A&Q about Lotus
Q:
For those who drive the Elise/Exige at night, you know how bad the stock lights are. Well now with our ultra lightweight HiD kit you won't out drive your lights. I do most of my canyon driving at night so I needed much better lights, I have had these HiDs on my Elise for over 10k miles and I can't imagine driving without them.
Some of the features:
Ultra lightweight
• Revolutionary ballast is only 8oz. - others weigh 1.5 lbs.
• Approximately the size of a flip phone (3.5"x2.5"x.5"), this is the smallest on the market.
Plug and Play
•*Lamp connectors are designed specifically for the Elise and Exige.
• The smaller sized ballast gives you a better fit, making mounting easier than larger ballast systems.
• Each kit is accompanied by Lotus specific instructions for a confusion-free installation.
High Intensity Discharge
• Emits 3 times more light than stock lamps.
• Ballast draws only 35 watts (80% less than stock wattage).
• Phillip's bulb emits 3,200 lumens (compare that to stock halogens that emit only 900-1100 lumens).
Long lasting
• Bulbs will last for 2000 hours, whereas stock halogens last only 400 hours.
•*Fully water proof
• Lifetime warranty
These custom made lamps help you see much more after sundown, so you can stay out and play longer.
Oh yeah did I mention, it was plug and play

Is this kit totally plug-and-play meaning that no wires have to be cut or spliced?
A:
Hopefully I'm allowed to ask questions on this thread since I'm probably the biggest competition to these lights. Mods, if you don't think so, lemme know.
How is this kit plug and play? Unless your picture doesn't show everything included, I don't see how you'll get power to the ballasts without splicing into the factory harness. I have quite a few customers that can confirm that with my kit, no splicing or soldering is necessary and I would hate for people to be misled that a kit is "plug and play" when it isn't 100%.

Or is your definition of plug and play "unplug the stock bulb from the headlamp and plug in the H1 based HID bulb in its place"? No problem Chester. You are right, our photo is NOT showing all the components. There is no splicing, cutting or drilling involved with the installation of our kit.

Actually our Exige has the daytime running lights with our HiDs and we haven't run into any issues. As for the "bothersome" part it all depends how you aim the lights.

id be interested in these lights but would be interested in seeing the instructions on installation to see how difficult it was prior to purchasing. can you pm me the instructions or email them to me?

also, i have read that other kits may have an issue where maybe once or twice out of ten times, only one light will light up, but if you turn the lights off and back on, they both ignite. has this been a problem?
is there anyone on the board who has actually used this kit?
thanks in advance!

It is a possibility... what are you looking for. And honestly they don't look that blue, unlike the Audi or Mercedes. But like a lot of other things color is subjective.

We had that problem during the early testing of the prototypes, the reason being that we cut and spliced the wires... and all when the wires weren't connected properly the one light wouldn't come on, but as soon as I ran over a bump it would.

So these truly are the Philip's 6000K ultinon bulbs???...the blue groundbar would imply that is it is but the salt crystals in the inner chamber should be maroon in color...425.00 for a true ultinon kit isnt a bad price...in the past, others have said that the 6000K bulbs were illegal for use in the U.S(didnt stop me though)...if your bulbs are truly 6000K, doubt it is putting out 3200 lumens like a 4100-4300K bulb would do...more like 2600-2800 lumens imo but still way better than stock halogens which put out typically 1200-1500 lumens...the ballast definitely doesnt look like a Philips product...does look like its plug and play though....lastly, to say that the connectors are specifically designed for the Elise might be a stretch since there are only a few type bulbs and its related adapters such as 9004,9005,9006, H1 and etc.
also, those adapters look like the ones McCulloch used to sell...who makes this bulb???...all genuine Philips bulbs come with the round P32D bases and everything else(ie-all cars except Audi and BMW that I can think of) has to be modified by the company who imports them from Europe....your bulbs have had to have been modified by someone(which isnt a bad thing).

the color isnt really that blue....6000K bulbs are pure white but look blue at certain angles...the bluest bulbs are Audi and BMW's and they are just 4300K bulbs but its all in the optics of the projector housing units and seen at certain angles...if you truly look at the BMW/Audi 4300K bulbs that look so blue when you see them on the street but if you were only a few ft away, they would look white/yellowish.

Color may be subjective but lumen output is not. I would like to see 4300K.
