carbon fiber front clam

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Very tastefully done, Cade. That looks killer. I think it's hilarious that folks might think it's a stick-on stripe.

A:
i was told that the benetec cf front clam is really hard to get and it would take months to get...and i cant wait months. :-(
A:
Thanks, guys!

Yup, the wait for it was not short. It's such a large piece that shipping is difficult... have to wait for enough stuff to fill a container and ship it all together. Otherwise the shipping cost is ridiculous.
A:
Guess it's time to fabricate a peice...like they say: if you cant find it to buy it, make it!

Cade: more picts, including rear!!

Cade, you win. Best stripes hands down. More pics please.
A:
I need to get out and take more pics. I'll try to do that sometime this week!

A:
Fantastic stripes Cade.
Where are those pics?

Now that I know there are $2k CF clams available from Hong Kong, if by horrible circumstances I need to replace my clams, I'll do CO with CF stripes.

Do you have a CF hardtop too?
Pics please!!!
A:
Cade,

I wish I had know a few hours earlier, I could have gotten plenty of pictures of your car. I did get one that I thought you might want to see. You may already know about this, and it doesn't look like it cut too deep, but I went when I first saw it.
A:
I see you've been up at Newport! Yeah, sorry folks, I'm bad about using my camera. I'll get some pics when I get the car back from service.

Thanks for the heads up Chris, I did see it, and it worried me at first, but I don't think it'll be an issue. Don't know what I ran over to do that, though.

A:
Maybe the clam cut it.
A:
so it's 2k for a front CF clam? isn't that cheaper than a stock clam?... how much work to make it fit?.. any structural concerns/cuts need to be made? i really like the idea that there's a stronger clam available if damage is done... specially if it's cheaper!
A:
There was quite a bit of work to fit it. SCC basically told me that they weren't doing any more, it was such a PITA. The entire trunk has to be refabbed, as the rear clam is a replacement for the S2, not the 111R. The front was a bit too tight on the mount points, and so there was some cutting and refitting of mount points, too...

If you can convince them to do more, go for it! I love mine, and it's definitely stronger.

I've seen it several times, and until this moment, I thought that. Just figured all the Sector guys were trying to out-stripe each other.
