2009 or maybe 2010. IMO, not good for Lotus ...then again, there are rumors of another car in betwen the Exige & Esprit replacement that is said to come out before the Esprit replacement.
A:
the door and windscreen are old Esprit. I'm willing to bet that the whole thing is old esprit under the extra panels. It's probably an engine/suspension testbed.
A:
I actually like the additional panels as part of the final car. Reminds me of the Spyhunter game. Maybe it's the color too. Maybe someone will make this as a body kit add-on.
With reference to the article, does this mean that Lotus will create racing circuit with this car, like Lotus Challenge or am I hoping too much.
A:
Definitely not a US photo. Passing allowed, going up a blind curve, on a mountain, little to no safety barriers before the 1000 plunge. THAT's driving excitement no matter what car you are driving.

The mention of a convertible version is interesting...
A:
There's a whole lot of camouflage on that thing. . . Maybe they should consider going for the "Mad Max" look!

The BMW in the second picture has a German license plate, maybe the pictures were taken in the Alps.

I heard direct from a Lotus rep this weekend that the factory has a heavily hacked up old Esprit running around as a test mule for the new Esprit suspension and drivetrain. This looks like it.
A:
must be a tough job to drive that thing around testing it out everywhere!
A:
Heh Serbo1, look, it's flat black!

Wishful thinking
But "do-it-yourself" Challenge car is certainly a possibility
If I had Bill Gates' financial resources, I would sponsor to bring back Team Lotus to the F1 circuit!

That's why I cited where the photos came from and provided the proper link to the article. I understand the photo says posting on Worldcarfan.com only, but I believe the picture was used as a REVIEW of a news article which hence falls under the "Fair Use" provision of US Copyright laws. In addition, proper link was provided for the website.
Fair Use provisions of the copyright law allow for limited copying or distribution of published works without the author's permission in some cases. Examples of fair use of copyrighted materials include quotation of excerpts in a review or critique, or copying of a small part of a work by a teacher or student to illustrate a lesson
In addition, in order to use a copyright of digital photographs, video, or sounds, under fair use, one must include the copyright symbol and the name of the copyright owner directly on/under/around the digital material. Images, graphics and video should be credited to their owners/sources just as written material.
(I also understand that ET has it's own rules which I didn't exactly memorize. But if the moderator felt the pictures are inappropriate, please remove so)

I was told it doesn't pay very well, as in, "You don't want to quit your current job do it."

The door does look like old esprit, but it doesn't seem to fit at all. I suppose all that stuff above it could be some sort of camoflage panelling, but It seems like an awful lot of effort to camo the roof-line.. Seems more likely that they used an old esprit door as camo rather than everything around it.
That said, I'd buy that it's just a test bed for some other bits... which makes this post kinda useless, huh?

It's Stelvio in the Alps (Italian iirc) - famous stretch of (public) road for brake testing. All Lotii are tested there.
