Not getting follow-up w/ Ragnorak...what should I do?

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Some people maybe remember a few months ago, when I was having problems with my V1 setup, and determined that I needed a new remote display mirror to correct the problem.

What I'm trying to do now is to get a new V1 mirror from Ragnorak, and send in my old, nonworking one, since I already sold off my original rearview mirror and don't want to go without one. Talking with Brett on the phone, he agreed to send me a new one as soon as his fabricator finished work, since my unit was fairly new (purchased in December 2005).

I've been in contact with Brett mostly via email, and have sent him 3 or 4 emails asking about the status of these mirrors. Each time, I receive a prompt reply saying to expect to receive an email with the shipping status of the new mirror when it's sent later in the week. Needless to say, I haven't gotten this email yet.

I really hate to bring this to a public forum, but I really don't know what to do at this point. Brett seems like a good guy to deal with and I'm definitely happy with the quality of his products, but it's now been about 2 months since he first told me he'd send me a replacement, and my V1 is sitting in a corner of my garage collecting dust...does anybody have any insight into how this problem can be solved?

Call him?

Worse comes to worse, you could mail it to me and I should be able to fix it. However you may need to purchase a new concealed display from V1 if the circuitry is shorted.

Sure it will -- if you express to him the same concerns as you've voiced them here. He can either give you a straight answer or he can hem 'n' haw around. Either way, you'll know where you stand and can decide what you need to do about it.

I am sure you'll get it once the standalone ecu, supercharger, cf hardtop, cams are finished. Your mirror was is right between the cams and the cure of cancer.
A:
buy another one and send it back right away with the old one on the box for a refund. just tell him you don't need it anymore because.....lie,lie,lie... well @ least you get a new replacement right away.

Hey Scotty, does this offer still stand? I certainly wouldn't expect you to do it for free, but it sure beats the hell out of having a $250 lump lying around.

Mike, if you do have that spare remote display lying around, I'd be glad to take it off your hands for a few bucks, maybe a case of Olde English?

And to close out my own thread, man...I really wish I'd saved the money. If Brett wasn't going to follow up on providing me w/ a replacement, I really wish he would've just told me so from the get-go. I wouldn't feel great about it, but I do understand the implications of a small start-up niche business, and that providing people with airtight guarantees isn't always in the cards. Nowhere on his site does he provide one, and that makes sense, I realize I was more or less asking for a favor on his part.

In conclusion, business is business, but I really would've appreciated some transparency, e.g. a return email or phone call saying, "Look, sorry about your situation, but providing a replacement is something I just can't provide given my current status."

Offer still stands. Ship it over to me and I'll take a look. It's probably just a bad solder connection. If the circuitry is fried, I'll tell you and then you can send over another concealed display so we can get it up and running. Mail it to me at:

Scott Bialik
246 Federal Road
Suite D-13
Brookfield, CT 06804

As for compensation, don't worry about it, just pay for the shipping and we'll call it even.

Oh, and I don't want to hear any **** from anyone saying that the warranty will be voided since I tinkered with it!

Hello Andrew,
Your new replacement mirror shipped on 7/26/06. I have emailed you the UPS tracking number. It is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday at your residence. Please let me know you received it and drop me an email when the broken mirror is shipped back to me. Thanks Andrew.
A:
Brett, thanks very much for your response. Like I said before, I realize that this was more or less asking you for a favor, I understand the implications of trying to keep everyone happy when business first starts up firsthand. Anyway, I appreciate your follow-up, and honestly wish you all the best as your business grows. Thanks again.

1. No need to post it in 3 threads.
2. It's not the first time we've heard that exact same statement.
3. I'm still looking forward to it.
