$1800. Just ordered Mine.
A:
is this bolt on or welding required?
A:
would like to look at both.
thanks for asking.
A:
1800??? Is that installed? The parts for the rollcage cost something like 300 bucks but it's the labor that will cost. Mine was 5600. It included 79 hours of labor including 18 overtime hours. The car was completely taken apart to get it all in.
A:
$180O is for the prefab cage. Install is extra. Bolt-in.
A:
prefab from who and where. Online???

A:

Well, Like I said before, they do nice work, but they ( your installer ) tried to charge me about $ 28,000 for an engine swap in the Europa..... an 8 week job that turned into a year & a half trial & ( lots of ) error ordeal. When they were "done" they just basically dumped the car in my driveway; unfinished, and not running...brand new alternator fried.....the list goes on & on. Sorry to rant, but in a nutshell they charge a lot more than their work is worth.

Here are some photos. You can get different configurations. I didn't want the diagonal brace, the knee bar, or the side intrusion bars.
A:
is hypersport the only supplier?
I see alot of variations but no one has said anything other than hypersport.
A:
I may now add the knee bar and a removable diagonal brace now that I have eliminated the A/C controls and the storage tray under it. I will have a local guy make the change though..
A:
most clubs will require some sort of nascar side bars on the door area to be in the race classes (to the best of my knowledge). I just cannot imagine a cage taking 80 hrs of labor to install, but then again, i have never done one, so what do i know

I am medium talented when it comes to working on cars. I can do most things when it comes to R&R but shy away from internal engine work and the like.
It took me about 4 hrs to install my roll cage whichin includes removal of the stock roll hoop(with the assistance of two other guys for about 15 minutes to help me get the stock roll hoop out and the roll cage into the side pods). This does not include welding which should be no more that four hours for a qualified welder(with numerous coffee breaks and taking every precaution known to man to protect anything that migh be adversly affected by weld splatter).
You should also add about 4-5 hrs for rear clam R&R. My car was pretty stripped already so lets give them another 8 hrs to get the task completed. Total = 24hrs and that is really being generous... Ill bet The shop has never done one and was probably over shooting the estimate just for good measure. They hopefully would only charge you for the hours worked and not the MAX amount.
40 hrs should allow the shop to mine and smelt the ore, form it into pipe, fabricate the cage, and finally install and weld it.... Oh yeah, and cover the end product with leather or suede to your preference. So yeah that's about right!!! GROSS city!
I would expect a reputable race shop to give you a range and charge(generously) by the hour. That way they make a fair profit, take the time to do it right, and don't overcharge the customer.
