POLL: What's your biggest gripe?

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
We all read about the basic problems we seem to have so let's give Lotus a chance to see what they need to fix. You know, a priority list of sorts.
A:
I'm sorry, pilot...This kind of list could be for any car from any manufacturer...you could make a list a mile long of everything that ever happened to any car. It isn't really fair...and there is already a thread like this that Randy made...

A:
i can't do this...
A:
Geeech! I hadn't even added the poll and you're knocking me. Oops, sorry, er, gee! YouMe. Seriously, if you don't like it, look at another post.
A:
No I'm not knocking you. I didn't mean to sound mean. See Randy's thread above, it sort of dealt with this before...or keep going with your poll.

A:
Yes, I now recall that thread posted by the moderator. Good thread too. I was just tossing up a poll.
A:
Seriously -- I am getting tired of reading all these posts that say "use the search." Larry pulled up a post from a YEAR ago. I think it is alright to start a new post on a topic after a YEAR. There have been many new users to ET since then and I don't see the issue for someone else to bring up the topic.

Done venting. People just can be so friggen mean on chat boards.

On topic, the radio. They should have either not put one in, or put one in that you could hear at 75mph.

I picked loose bolts because it's a safety issue. I already had the battery nearly come loose. I fear something worse coming loose in the long term.

What??? It's pretty NORMAL around here to assume people should use the Search function -- otherwise everybody asks the same questions a zillion times!

Ok, so have another poll!

A:
You need a "I don't have any big gripes" option. If I had to choose my two biggest "gripes" would be A) The stock rear view mirror was laughably over-sized, and B) It was ridiculous that they shipped the '05s with the brake pedal not adjusted properly to their own specs.
A:
I have only one real gripe. My wife crunched my car and now I am without it.
A:
My biggest gripe is that I'm stuck here at work right now rather than running through twisty roads!

Aside from that, I think my biggest gripe has been my leaky trunk, followed by the proper functioning of the AC.

I wasn't expecting German quality going in and although these little things annoy me a bit, I still look forward to driving it every day.
A:
I'd pick none of the above. My only issue is the headlights that only illuminate what you're about to hit just before you hit it.

Well, that and more power please.

Well, that and more power please. I just had mine aligned and they are much better now.
A:
didn't vote.. none of those are non-issues for me, new speakers and the stero is great, my car doesn't leak, a few lose gizmos here and there i find enjoyable to tinker with.

my only gripe would be off's on track day "could" be very expensive!
A:
how can you have a poll on gripes without the AC as an option

that is my only gripe. No squeaks rattles, things falling off (that I know of) after 2 years....
A:
Yeah there isn't a headlight or A/C option on there! Those two are my top choices. I know the A/C is lightweight and therefore weak but at least put a decent fan in. I am "blown away" (hehe bad pun) everytime I turn the fan on in my other cars.

I don't think Lotus could have picked a more frustrating radio to put in this car. Did they even do a trade study on it? It's the worst piece of garbage EVER!!! It's even more annoying with it's security crap but who the hell would want to steal it. Mine hasn't worked because I disconnected the battery and forgot the little keycard everytime I've had to take a drive over 2 hours.

I think it was a secret ploy to get us to remove it and save the 10 lbs...
A:
The stereo blows...it wouldn't have been too difficult (judging from all the excellent solutions folks have posted here) to have put a better starter stereo in the car, without adding weight. What's better than zipping around on a sunny day, top down...with audible music? Nearly as good is driving while just enjoying the engine, but that can get old unless you're going through a lot of gears.

Oh, yeah, I'd also pick the headlights apparently designed to illuminate my next immediate right turn...

But, all in all, I'm a happy driver.

I may be willing to add 5lbs. (gasp! call the press!) of this Damplifier Pro stuff to the rear interior firewall panel/holes to qualm some of the road noise coming out behind me. Blasphemy I know but it may be worth it in the long run... I can apply 10sf of the stuff for 5lbs. of weight. I hope it helps!

I was driving last weekend with my 4 year old daughter (70mph on the highway with the hardtop on and windows up in a non-touring pack car) and she had to almost yell for me to hear her over the cacophony of zzzzzzhzhzhzzhzhzh behind us.

You never realize how noisy it is until you're on the highway with a passenger.
