elise now has 600 miles on it and i do not like the lawn mower sound of the stock exhaust. need some suggestion's. don't mind loud if it sound's ferrari ish. miltex, stge-2 ???

I found the least expensive way to give the Elise a better note is to install a Fujita Intake 1st. That might do what you want. If you still need more??? Add a Stage II and you'll hear the in the cams!

Let the baffling wear in on the stock exhaust, then make up your mind... every exhaust sounds different after ~1K mi... sometimes less...

Stock exhaust doesn't sound good even when broken in, IMHO. I had a QS I loved, but it was loud! I now have a Larini which is probably better because it doesn't drone nearly as much, but is still loud on the cam!

i hate the sound of mine too, it has 1800 miles I am saving for the Larini myself, anyone want to start a donation for me? LOL

No exhaust is going to make a 1.8L I-4 sound like a 2-3 times larger Ferrari V-8 or V-12. Having said that, there are a lot of choices for the Lotus. Personal taste dictates which is best for you.

Unless you are deaf... I do not agree with you. My Elise has ALL the sound of an 8 or 10 cylinder car. You just need the right stuff.

I would normally agree, yet I was actually surprised at how much the 2bular exhaust sounded like a Ferrari 360 - I had filmed Raggedy1's Elise on a few drive bys, and while editing the video on a Mac accidentally imported a video clip of a 360 driving past at Laguna Seca. When the Elise was on the 2nd cam, the similarity was surprising. Not identical, just really similar.

Were do you buy above intake, exhaust's. I know for instance stage 2 is from the lotus dealer's , as for the fujita intake , the 2-bular or the larini? I would like the exhaust end's to exit if possible from the current position if possible.

I have never heard the tubular, but people assume I have a V8 or V12 in the car all the time LOL.

Nothing will make a Toyota sound like a Ferrari and never will come close, the Toy does not have a flat crank and the Ferrari does, that flat cranks is one of the reasons for the sound.

Actually most 4 cylinder motors are a flat crank design.
8 cylinder flat crank motors sound like two 4 bangers running in unison, case in point is the 3.5L Lotus V8 in the Esprit.
What makes Ferraris sound so good is actually induction and exhaust design. I believe some systems have criss crossing header tubes from one side of the motor to the other so that each exhaust pulse can enter the collector in relation to the firing order.

From what I heard on the 2bular sample, I agree. The sound is improved over stock but it still sounds like a four cylinder car.

I've stood behind Raggedy's car while he revs it ... IMO it was the best sounding exhaust I've heard so far. I've got to get a ride sometime and hear it on the cams in person (raggedy )

After putting on my Larini, the first thing it made me think of was a vintage Ferrari sound. The on the second cams, it screams like a Formula 1 car.
