I cant even think of an exhaust that cost even close to that much (for the Elise that is) maby the guy was leing to make him self look cool.

It could be pretty easy to spend $3000 on an exhaust, particularly if you are talking about the whole exhaust system (headers, sport cat, etc.). He may also be including installation. Of course the Arqray titanium double tip is $2400 by itself though. And there is always the KMS double tip two stage exhaust that runs something like $3500.
