A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I wanted to post this because I know that there are some post about problems with the Elise and the issues not being warrantied. Giving those with Elises a feeling that if anything major goes wrong it wouldn't be covered by Lotus.
I've just had a major problem with the car (don't want to really get into the exact problems) probably the largest issue that I've heard about on any Elise. Lotus, Dave Simkin, Don and Lea from Newport European could not have been more cooperative in covering my car with the warranty. I thought all issues were considered and handled fairly. I did cover some of the expenses myself. But these guys have been nothing but great. They explained to me what was wrong with the car and what was going to be covered. The also explained to me why the things that were not to be covered wouldn't be.
Sometimes, we only hear of when things don't go our way on the warranty decisions. I hope that this puts some balance to the discussion.
I've always felt very fortunate about being able to own an Elise. I'm even more impressed by the company than ever.

Hi Jacob -
Thanks for a positive, well-balanced report. It does credit to Lotus and Newport.
Dave Simkin is quite possibly the greatest asset at LCU (Lotus Cars USA). He has consistently worked with our owner community and has always shown support of our groups' activities. I won't water down your thread with my own experience, but suffice to say that I'm 100% in agreement with your sentiments.

Very true. I've also had very fair dealings with the Newport European crew, and big kudos to Dave Simkin as well!
Thanks for all you folks do!
Cade

Great post, Jacob. Nice to see the other side of the coin, which is probably more the rule than teh exception we so often hear about.
I agree with Bob. Dave Simkin is probably the best asset Lotus USA has, even with his pad full of VIN numbers!

That's all great...where's the information though?? Might be helpful to us all if we knew the whole scoop before jumping on the "bandwagon". Happy whatever worked out for you.
