A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Thanks Harold. My keys just arrived! I just found out the reason for the delay was because it was "Not Deliverable As Addressed" and they had to "Return Back to Sender". Well, you used the self addressed envelope that I send you so what they are saying is that I don't know how to write my own address (which I do) and since I had my own address as the return address on the envelope, it got to me after all!

Thanks again and the Elise post card was a nice touch.

You're in NJ, and it was mailed from MD. Yet, the USPS sent it to the "return" address which required transporting it further than most of the mail I ever send. Why am I using stamps? I should just write some illegible mailing address with a very clear return address (that just happens to be the same as the intended mailing address) and drop it in the mailbox.

I was thinking about that too. No more buying stamps.

If anyone expected to receive keys and did not, please PM met. Of more than 30 sets mailed, about one in ten did not make it the first time for whatever reason.

Those who requested keys last week should receive them this week. Thanks.

Bump. Still more key blanks for anyone who needs 'em.

If you have not received yours, please PM and I will resend.

Bump. Still have key blanks.

PM sent.

Having a spare will come in handy for when I want to leave the engine running while getting something from the boot.

Hook me up please . PM and Paypal sent. Thanks

Bump, for the newbies and Exige owners out there!

Eldersburgelise is very generous in giving back to ET ers. He is sending me replacement blanks for the ones I screwed up doing the ET and BWR mods. Leave the key longer than you think for these. Get a spare!

My key has the light, and from the side looks like the "old" style. But from the end, it appears that the grooves are like the "new" style. Is it possible that the end views are swapped in the pic?

Thanks

Sure looks like it to me! I think you're on to something there.

The new keys are mirror image patterns of the old keys. The image pattern is what the key slot looks like (if I remember correctly) - what the key slides into, rather than looking at the end of the key.

The early keys (the lighted ones) are the same pattern as Miata keys (except that the Miata key has a longer tip that needs to be removed), and new keys are different - mirror image of the old keys..

Thanks Tim, if it's the slot image, it's a go.

Nearly 50 sets have been sent out, and nobody has claimed to have gotten the wrong key. (Some did not make it through the mail, but that was a packaging problem, I think.)

I believe Tim's explanation is correct, the image is of an a key slot, not the key.

Bump for new owners.
