A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I was looking around for Elise stuff on the web the other day, and found a Lotus Elise body from a company called HPI:
Wanting more to race the thing around than build it from scratch, I ordered the body along with a ready-to-run chassis and remote control from www.rchobbies.org. Now I need some British Racing Green spray paint and a little patience to paint the Elise Body and a ridiculous number of batteries for the remote control, and I'll have an Elise I can drive even when the streets are covered with snow (even if this one only goes 30mph or so)

Yeah, the 190mm HPI body is the same one I bought, but my chassis is an HPI Sprint 2 chassis. I need to hunt down some British racing green spray paint to get the Elise body done, but it already works nice with the body it came with (in the first picture above).

Make sure you get lexan paint! Check out www.towerhobbies.com . You can even find 1/10 scale exhaust tips and little brake disks to go behind your wheelz. Add a lighting kit integrated with the speed controler. Real brake lights.
Add a handful of model rocket engines to the back, and make an RC Elise missile.

I have an HPI RS4 3 and I have been meaning to get that body. All of my stuff is just sitting in the garage right now. I currently have an Audi TT body painted the same color as my last car (TT, of course) with chrome 5-stars and Pilot Sport tires on it. I also have a Viper body and another TT body for it. One day I'll get around to putting on a roto-start so it isn't so much of a pain in the a$$ to get started.
As turbo2nr said, get lexan paint! I had a local hobby shop sell me stuff that wasn't and I hit a curb on the other side of the lot I was in at about 35-40 mph - ugly! But that was the Viper body so I don't care all that much. Also, word to the wise, the electric HPI models are high-speed, low-drag compared to the nitro ones. The clean-up and maintenance for a nitro car is much more intensive.

I just got a professionally painted chrome orange one this week. It looks pretty good. So then I needed a car to put underneath it. I picked up two Nitro powered Traxxas all wheel drive models. Should be fun. They should be here in a couple days, if not today. I can't wait! My cousin and another friend have the gas powered ones too (HPI's) so hopefully they can help me out as I proceed to destroying mine. haha.
A:
Oh, does anyone know of anywheels out there that are similar to the base models?
A:
SweetDaddyD, if you use high speed gearing with your gas powered car, be sure you put the rear wing on. A friend of mine found this out the hard way after destroying a couple of really nice Lamborghini Gallardo bodies when his car lifted up at the rear and flipped at about 50+ mph. I cant speak for the Elise R/C shape and lift, but if the Lambo won't stay on the ground...

Not for kids. Sure they want to watch. I once ripped off a little girl's toe nail. The whole thing. I felt like an azz. The cars went back in the garage.
A:
Designit: Hmmmm thanks for the advice. Bummer, I don't really like the look of the wing, it's kinda cheesy. I was wondering it could possibly be effective, but I guess you answered that for me. If you think about it, these little cars are what 1/10th scale or something. So if they are actually going 50 MPH does that have a size equivelent because of the scale? Am I making any sense? I guess what I'm trying to ask is that really the same thing as if my real car were going 500 MPH as far as lift, downforce, traction, etc are concerned? Where's Stan? haha

Thanks, Icedog! Close enough to the LSS wheels, and a perfect likeness of the Racing Sparcos that I like. Now for some tiny Lotus logos.

kiyoshi you didn't show me that when i was at your house! OMG I love it. Any chance you could be persuaded to repeat the process?
