Wheels (I think they were HPI and I painted them silver) were purchased at Tower Hobbies along with tires that imitate Yoko 032Rs (the closest I could find to the 048s).

I painted and stickered the Elise body, and it didn't turn out badly. It was my first such project, and first experience with an airbrush (complicated by repeated attempts to clean a water-soluble paint with paint thinner).
It's quite speedy and more durable than I would have expected - which is fortunate when driving a toy at 30+ mph indoors. Definitely recommended if you're into this kind of thing. Pictures follow:

I cant speak for the Elise R/C shape and lift, but if the Lambo won't stay on the ground...

I saw my friend that has the high-performance RC car this weekend. He's done some mods to it to get it well over 60 mph at this point. He's now running a Lotus Elise body (with wing) and he claims it's the most stable body he's ever had.

Troy, What do you want for it? I bought 2 on ebay. The first one turned out to be a major piece. Didn't include everything he said it did, came filthy, etc. Perhaps I'll fix it up and get it going- but I definately got ripped off. And the second one hasn't came yet- been 12 days since he claimed it was sent. Not having good RC car luck lately. Looks like I might to get to put paypals buyer protection to the test.

Mez, that's a beautiful job. I'm I seeing working head lights and tail lights too?

A couple of my Lotus 1/10 bodies. Partly what convinced me I needed a real Lotus. Too bad they don't have any Exige bodies. MEZ, Did you take a photo of your rear defuser and plate and make a sticker out of it!?
Cheers,
Skottoman

Hello all,
I'm getting my nitro car today. I already have the elise body. I would appreciate any tips regarding painting the body, drilling the holes to attach body to car or any other tips that may be beneficial to a first time RC car painter.
Thanks in advance

Kind of hard to tell you where to start. First, don't take off the protective coating until you have the thing painted. Never did it, but I know some who have. Make sure you get paint for polycarbonate, otherwise the paint will come off when you hit something. I speak from experience on that one. The guy at the hobby shop sold me the wrong paint. Spray just past the body on both ends, stop spraying at each end and pause and then head back the other way. Make sure you let the paint dry in between layers. I think one of the biggest things is to be patient when painting and don't lay it on too thick. You'll have a better result with a bunch of thin layers than a couple of thick ones. While it may sound weird, I used to use my wife's lipstick to mark the body posts so they would leave dots on the body showing me where to drill . Hope some of these help. I am sure there are some here with more experience than me.

Yep, installed 8 LEDs for the head/tail lights. For the rear I simply took a photo, resized and printed it. However I did need to slightly shorten the photo vertically so the diffuser and exhaust pipes are visible. Hence the license plate appearing wider than normal.
I also wanted it to match my Ardent Red and ordered a 12oz spray can from www.automotivetouchup.com. It’s a perfect color match and doesn’t chip or flake with the plastic body. The toughest part was making the custom body mounts. The end result is a body with no holes for the antenna or body posts.
Just for the heck of it, I set the Elise body on my 1/8th scale nitro truck. Now I’m pondering whether to order another body for the truck. It look’s so ridiculous I got to try it!

Ah... another RC geek. Awesome!

Tower Hobbies is where I usually order my RC stuff.
Here’s the car…
With this Elise body…
It requires a 6 or 7 cell ni-cad battery and charger. I ordered about 20 light kits for cheap from www.toyeast.com about a year ago, so I’m not able to comment on a light kit from Tower. Installing bearings is a plus. The only remaining factor is paint and patience.
An Associated RC10L (or similar) would be far better performance. I just wanted a good bang-for-the-buck car to dedicate the Elise body.
