It turned out a waitress, who just got off of work, had backed out of her spot and bumped my car. She bumped my rear fender right on the side light on the fender/well. All she did was break the light. I didn't see any immediate damage and to tell you the truth I just didn't want to deal with the drama. I got all of her information and found out she was driving without a License and no insurance.
Currently I am traveling for work and will be taking my baby in to the Lotus of Durham and have them check it out.
For me this is just a reminder that we all need to be careful and that even though we maybe getting better at our skills stuff happens.
Everyone please be safe this coming week. I hope all have a great Thanksgiving.

Last Sunday same sh!t happened to me. My situation was a hit and run. Check out the thread,

Been there, done that. Happened to me last January. I didn't notice the stress cracks at first (because it was night time) but I got the other driver's info. The next day in daylight I saw the stress cracks. I also had some fine parallel scratches on the starshield and a busted Lotus badge.
I got a quote from SVAG which I think was something like $1,100 to replace the light assembly. Phoned up the other driver and they decided to pass it on to their insurance company. I met their adjuster a week or two later to show them the quote and the damage. They didn't seem surprised and they issued me a check a few days later.

It depends on if the insurance company reports it. Carfax searches public records - that's where it gets the title history (and finds out about salvage, etc.). The rest may or may not come from other sources.
Carfax is a tool to be used when considering buying a used car. If a car has a "clean" Carfax, it means little. If something shows up on Carfax, it can be very helpful. Carfax is definitely not all inclusive or fool proof, contrary to the advertisements...

Not sure how much the light will be in the US but this should give you an indication.
The headlight cover (which includes the clear lens and the molded gray/black lens surround as "one" piece) is available separately for the '05 and '06 US federal car. The '07 has a "sealed beam assembly" and a totally different construction. You're in Oz, right? I don't know how our US cars compare to yours, but I'd expect the headlight assemblies for the '05s and '06s are the same.
The upside is the driver came into the shop I was in and asked if it was my Lotus - can't fault his honesty.
You're very fortunate. Maybe people "down under" are more honest than here in the US. (They're definitely more courteous -- your lorry drivers excepted... )

Oh, you mean into your car? Darn. I thought this post was going to be XXX rated based upon the title.

My car is an 02 and I suspect that the headlights are the same as your 05/06 models (why change??) - but I suspect that the pricing regime applied by Lotus Oz will account for the much great price than in the US

I know I was very lucky - and I agree about the lorry drivers!
PS: love your tagline - think I'll tell that to my wife

My poor Elise is in the shop, and as I was showing them the stress marks in the headlight cover, I noticed two clear "spines" in the starshield about 4-5 inches in length. It's bumpy to the feel and I can describe it best as a faultline. It looks just like what would happen to a piece of masking tape if you'd place it at the junction of two pieces of wood and then move the pieces in opposite directions.
Is that what cracked clams look like when held together by the starshield? By visual inspection it LOOKS minor, but will it get worse? When I replace the starshield, will it crumble to pieces or show the crack? If I go to an autocross or otherwise spirited driving, will the extra stress open up the clam and reveal more cracks?
Grr, this sucks. I decided to get insurers involved.
