A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Just received my CF front inserts & access panels today- ordered from HK on Oct.10th. I'm very pleased w/ the quality of the pieces, the weave is flawless w/ no bubbles or imperfections in the resin. Also, the pieces came clearcloated! Much better wet-lay construction CF than other manufactures I've experienced!!!

are you going to paint portions of them?

Looks awesome!
How much did it run you - delivered to your door?
Crap almost forgot... HOW much do they weigh?
Seriously.

No, that's why I'm soo particular re: the weave, pin-holes, ect. No paint - goin' w/ the exposed CF look
They ran about $540 delivered

Thank you!
I've yet to install them - they're paper light! But I will weigh & post

540! ? The ones on the sector 111 site are like 1600 bucks!
Do these have the whole drilled in them for the one screw?
Got a link to a website for them?

Yeah $1600 is price-gougingly outrageous!!! & that doesn't include the vented panels either!
No, no hole has been drilled - I think I can manage that

They had a special last month - $100 off. I really only wanted the vents but at that price it was a no-brainer when the Access panels were included too.
A:
Well that you need to post details/pictures when you're done... because we both have GG and I would LOVE to see what they look like...

..just weighed 'em - Access panels 15.9 oz. Vents 9.0 oz.
Don't know what the stock items weigh.
A:
Any ideas on whether they offer all the black bits in CF?
I've thought about painting mine but would rather keep them stock and swap.

A CF vent kit for the whole car would be sweet!

Sector111 lists the stock access panels as weighing 0.88kg (1.9404 lbs. or 31.04 oz.)... so the savings from the panels alone are 15.14 oz... or 0.947 lb.

I agree, I've always wanted to replace the rear vents in the deck lid.

Almost a lb. - I'll take it, I mean leave it.

Hummmm................ I've got an Uncle that lives in HK and will be here for the holidays......... Wonder if that rear clam will fit in the overhead compartment!

Very nice! Do you have pics of the underside as well? They look like 1+1 weaves...

No, didn't snap a pic of the underside - although, very clean w/o alot of excess resin

if i were you i would use a dremel tool and grind the whole. Use a cutter that's smaller than the hole you're creating and make the hole by making circular motions. This way you wont risk jamming a drill or grinding bit in there and wont risk the bit running around the inside of the hole. These are 3 great ways to trash a lay-up.
If you're already done this kind of stuff, you know what you're doing but drilling holes can be a hell of a lot more risky than you think, and suddenly make bargain parts a whole lot more expensive.
