I never remove it. It doesn't get in the way at all, so theres no need to make it removable. Although, I have thought about making a different attachment (to replace the wraparound arms) to fit my portable GPS though. A wingnut would work there.

Here's mine. Held in place via magnets. Got one on each side. Easy to move.
I never got around to spinning up an aluminum one. This was my test piece.

I'm confused. The magnets stick to what, exactly?

Other magnets. I installed neo magnets into the plastic sill cover. More neo's
in the bottom of the cup holder. I have more pictures somewhere.

I've got that. I've never used it. hah.

That's pretty novel - do they hold in hard cornering? As to the original post on this thread - I am confused - why not buy the 2006 cupholder from Lotus - or do you have to trade in your 05 and get the whole car? That one at least slides back under the dash when not in use.

Looks like a Roman jockstrap!

Same here. It's too small; nothing fits in it.

I saw the sticker from my car in the book a couple weeks ago and it listed a cup holder, which I didn't get. I thought it was a joke, until now!

Well that sucks - if it would take a medium Dunkin Donuts coffee cup I would have tried to retrofit to my 05.
It won't take that?

I don't know how large that cup is, and I don't have a ruler handy, but I just did a quick size check with a normal 12oz soda can. The strap part sort of wraps around the metal ring so it reduces the diameter a bit. The can did go in, but I had to apply some force. That should give an idea of the opening. When fully inserted I think only 1/4 or 1/5 of the can protruded above the holder, so it is reasonably deep. The strapping actually ends up holding the can snugly, which is good except it means you need that extra force to get the can in and out and therefore more chance of shaking/spilling the contents when e.g. it pops free of the holder.
A typical 20oz bottle has no chance of fitting.
