A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Has anyone else noted that their II is getting more throaty with time and miles. My Exige seems a lot louder and a bit more powered up since I put some miles on the new exhaust.
A:
I have noticed that my stock exhuast is quite a bit louder now that I have hit 2000 miles, Bassier sounding as well and getting that cool blurp blurp backfiring sound as I come up to lights

Well, yeah, I think you are right, got the car back yesterday with my 4th St II, was surprised how different it sounded, had the 3rd one in there for a couple thousand miles and it had gotten deeper sounding, not sure it had gotten louder though, the new one seems even louder on cam...
This one is supposed to be the new one that does not break, I believe they changed vendors and improved some of the bracket welding/quality, can't say I know what the changes are for sure since I have not inspected the differences...remember reading something here....

six months later and 3k miles it is noticeably quiter, or my hearing is worse.

I just passed 10,000 miles on my Elise with the stock exhaust, and it does seem a bit louder and throatier, very little burble though.
A:
i can agree with that about the standard one... iv got about 12200 on the exige and the standard exhaust does sound a lot better than it used to, however im still going with a stage 2 at the end on the month! I love the pops and bangs of the stage 2!
A:

(Slowing down with the Stage II)

Mine does that, too. It got louder after a particularly aggressive track day.
I'm on my fourth stage II (see above) but if it breaks again, warranty or not, I'm getting a different brand.

What's breaking on the II?
A:
^ me too, i'd like to know how one goes through that many exhausts ?
A:
I heard the stage 2 on a couple cars vs the stock one last ngiht I I love the stage 2 sound, that will be a mod in the near future no doubt.
A:
Huh, what did you say
I love my Stage II, especially since I fixed the option where it was making contact with the diffuser and making a horrible noise.....
As the fiberglass packing burns in the sound should get deeper/louder (if it is anything like any of my other exhaust experiences).
A:
What??? Huh??? I can't hear you over my stage II!
A:
Mine burned all the noise absorbent tips in about 1000 km, then the noise level was about 130db and i'd to erase it from my car to safe my hear...

Ahhh, so "how it breaks" is that it gets LOUDER.
And, my shop adjusted the diffuser when they put the II in.
