A&Q about Lotus
Q:
One note-when I got to Topeka I was failed on tech, because while my new bracket gripped the battery well, the back side wasn't secured, so it was theoretically possible that the battery could rock up from the back, snap the fibreglass where the one screw holds down the bracket, and be free to create all kinds of problems. After struggling to solve this, I tied a wire through the back bracket and over the top of the battery, then secured it under the front bracket. Not perfect, but stabilized the whole battery.
Please do SOMETHING to secure your batteries if you do any spirited driving at all. I've seen this type of damage in person and it ain't pretty.

The braille battery install is very, very easy if you know how to use a box wrench and a screwdriver. The result is much, much more secure and the weight savings is a bonus.
I just added this thread to the Uberpost "Things owners should know" section.
I use an aluminum tie down strap and the bootie to keep the battery, soft top, or other objects from causing damage.
