A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I let my father and stepmother use my elise for the day. They both loved the car, however my father scratched the crap out of my door sills getting in and out. He is 60 years old and 6'2", I guess he just dragged is feet on top of the sill. Is there any fix for deep scratches in the plastic sill?
The last time I let my father use my car was in college. I had a 1986 Porsche 944 turbo with 15K miles. When I returned from college my car had 85k miles on it. At least he put new tires on it for me. I sold the Porsche to my older brother (38) for almost nothing 6 months ago. I gave him the title, the keys and he has been blasting around. He has paid me $0 for the car and recently told me that his girlfriend doesn't want him to have it I am starting to see a pattern with my family. They must be happy that I took the short bus to school

I don't know about fixing it but Blackwatch sells a balck 3M product to protect/cover the sills.

That's why I made sure the film covered that vulnerable area when I had my car wrapped.

They are less than $100 each

Family. Always the first to screw you. I've been making freebie signs and banners the last couple days- probably about a $1000 worth. (I really don't want to figure it). Sometimes it would be nice to at least get a freakin "Thank you". lol. What's that I hear, oh sorry- it's just an additional list of new signs/banners I "have" to make. Oh God, just to think I'm doing another business venture again with family. Have I not learned my lesson?
Really wishing someone made carbon fiber sills reasonable. I'm about half tempted to just make a set of bucks/molds here and make a small run. Looks like a simple enough part to make, certainly much easier than the Formula SAE car body I made in college.

Through the parts dept you should be able to order new leather covered sills. I don't remember the price, but it's pretty cheap really.

Thanks,
Leather covered door sills sound nice. I bet they are more comfortable as arm rests too.
Sweetdaddy you sound like you are in the same boat that I am.If you are going to get fuk'd it would be nice if you got kissed first. Well I guess I can't see this about family but it sure seems like they give it to me up the ass sometimes.

Whenever I take my car to be serviced, I always cover the door sills with blue painters tape. This helps prevent damage from service techs and helpers.
I realize this does you no good now, but it's something to keep in mind for the future.
