A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Like the car, but nervous about what could be a cracked clam... any thought well appreciated including estimates of vehicle value etcetera. Thanks ahead of time.
A:
It looks like it's been banged to me. I'd ask for a closeup photo of that section.
A:
Cleanest turbo install I've seen yet! Also, wondering why they gave up the wheels and tires that came with the "Sport" package? Didn't see the cracked clam, but didn't look too closely. I'd be concerned that the sellers have no idea what they're talking about.
A:
2006 Lotus Elise TURBO Convertible Coupe has a 1.8L 4-Cylinder Engine....

oh yeah, i called and they know it's not a turbo, although they think they're clarified the listing but obviously not. They don't know much about the car that much is for sure.
Good catch on the sport pack though i didn't think it had it, becuase i just looked at the wheels and didn't read the options listed well enough.
Any easy way of identifying a sport pack other than the wheels? so they can look somewhere and determine what it actually has?

i'd be wary of buying something without seeing it first. i almost bought a car from a dealer in LA that was listed on ebay. 3000 miles that were put on by "a car collector who babied the car" and was in new condition. supposedly this was a trade in on a Spyker. also, this car had every option, including "a limited slip exhaust!" yeah, right...
i saw the car, had a 3 inch gouge in the paint on the drivers side, 5 inches of curb rash on the wheel which was pretty deep and a 4 inch gouge on the front clam. the car had obviously been tracked judging by the tires. the dealer claimed that the tires were blistered because it was driven in AZ where it gets real hot. funny, didnt think i actually looked stupid, but seriously, the dealers normally don't know crap, and they will make up anything to make a sale. in my case, they tried to fix it (which they couldn't in 24 hours) and kept on lowering the price, i had to tell them that at that point, it wasnt about pricing, i didnt want the car. i figured that i wanted something pristine...
