Changes for 2007 Elise

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I don't know if this has been posted yet... but this is what I heard from a reliable source:

MSRP will be 1k more than 06
Rearview mirror will be smaller
Headlights will be sealed
LOTUS lettering on rear will be raised
Alpine stereo to replace Blaupunkt unit

No changes to bumpers until December build

Otherwise colors and options to remain same for now

Anyone have any additional info?

Oh good. I just had my Blaupunkt replaced with another one under warranty. But this one is almost as bad.

Anyway, what exactly are the bumpers for the front and rear?
thanks.

Just saw pics of the factory bumpers and surprisingly, they do not look bad at all. the rear is the only place where you'll noticed the difference but, it is actually two blocks of plastic/rubber type material (one on each side of the license plate frame) and seem to be the same color of the car. The front is exactly the same but, inside the nose of the vehicle, lotus injected alot of foam to absorb any 2.5 mph impact. The best thing of all is that it only adds about 13 lbs....not too bad if you ask me.

This isn't the first time I've heard mention of the rear bumper being a couple blocks and the first time I've heard mention of someone actually seeing pictures. Any chance you could point me in the direction of those pics, as I haven't seen them anywhere myself? Since it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm going to end up getting an Elise after December, I'm rather curious how they look myself.

Where are the pics? Anyone ever heard of a camera phone to take spy pics?
The members of ET should always be the first to know!!!!

13 pounds? 13 pounds!!! Considering that I would love to ger RID of 13 pounds... to start with 13 more pounds is not such great news. I'm even more thankful I got an early model.

I'll definitely be looking into the smaller mirrors and sealed lights though... those sound pretty good.

Did they do that at your dealer? I notice mine has "bled" color into the face, but I didn't want to take it out to send it in.

Yes, it was covered under warranty. My Los Angeles' face plate no longer lifted. I the Alcapoco unit is a bit better.

Well, 13lbs is better than higher insurance premiums and weeks in the shop. I wonder if 2005 to 2007 Elise will have a higher rate than the later models since the repair costs would be higher?
A:
I think just the interior rear view mirror is smaller. The extra bumper weight at either end will promote stability which we want. No we don't.
A:
Yes...I posted this on Sunday when I saw the car up in Canada from the Toronto dealer. Dealer was very nice and told me that this was the 2007 car for now.

Tony,
That car in those pics doesn't appear to have any rear bumperettes tho???

13 lbs. is nothing especially when many thought it would be more like 200-300 lbs. for the bumpers

And I did not notice any difference in the mirror..but then I was not looking.

Technically, it could be the '07 model. From what I remember, the cars that come in after the Dec. 31st, 2006, will have the bumpers.

Hopefully the bumpers won't be like this!
