undertray/diffuser bolts change out

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Well, decided not to opt for the quick release undertray kit that I had on my first elise. Instead I changed out the hex head bolts for stainless steel socket head cap bolts and washers.

A big weight penalty to pay tho. .0002 oz. additional weight per bolt, but think the washer I used is lighter (a #10).

I found these socket heads to be much easier to remove than the hex heads. A trivial mod but what the hell, I was bored tonight!

If you already don't have one, I would suggest purchasing a small electric impact for the bolts..

Does anyone have a handy online link where I could buy replacement bolts for the entire bottom that will resist rust (or won't rust at all)? I noticed some blemishes on the larger hex-head bolts covering the engine bay last time I did an oil change.

Thanks!

A cordless screwdriver would do the job, or even an torque adjustable cordless drill with screw driver bits.

If you really want to do it right, get a small air compressor and a 1/4 inch air ratchet. There are even small, "real" air compressors available for around $100. You can find a 1/4 air ratchet cheap at places like Harbor Freight - that's where mine came from...

I have a 1/4 air ratchet, but the "T" handle socket head driver is so easy I don't bother turning on the compressor.
