yaaaaa, I tuned into the race one lap before that, good timing I guess, still amazing to see her walking and talking after that with just bruises.

Good Luck Randy

There may be more efficient (with respect to aerodynamics and weight) methods to achieve the same amount of downforce, but I imagine rules and resources to develop this "package" have something to do with it.

You have to take what the rules allow. That said, we shall see soon if it worked.

I'm sure Robert knows what he's doing.
Doesnt take a genius to realise its not gonna work. That is if you have any idea about aerodynamics...

Lol some of you guys take this serious

Im sure this was done as a joke, since its quite obviuos that no-one would be serious with this wing.
A:
The Seloc boys are having some fun with it

The word on the street is that Robert of Blackwatch Racing is driving that car at the nationals.

I will offer a $50 bounty for the first person that can get me a picture of Robert in that car. You must be able to see his face an the wing. I know that will not be easy but we are talking about $50

That thing looks top heavy. Never mind the down force, it would end up on its side.

Race car drivers used to be cool...until this.

Yes, but this is AutoCross

I hope that car wins just so he can tell everyone to stuff it.

I assume that absolutely no research was put in to that thing and he just stuck it on for looks.
I also assume that by everyones responses appearance is everyting and a bling wing would have been much better. Lets also put on a fake hood scoop while we are at it......oh yeah, Lotus already did that on the Exige.

BTW, I agree that it looks ridiculously silly, I just don't care if it helps the car win. I'm sure the driver feels the same way.

So what you are saying is if they don't win we can keep taking the piss

Better yet: he wins -- and then puts it in the catalog.

I didn't really think about that.......... I guess so!

Well, being ET's self-proclaimed genius, why don't you explain it to the rest of us morons who think it'll improve his times? Show your math, please, oh aerodynamics guru. Wind-tunnel tests would be appreciated, too... I'm sure you have some on hand, being a genius expert engineer college freshman and all.
A:
This made me sad the same way as when F1 cars had those silly side wings a few years back.

Good luck in the race though.

If you'd been paying attention you'd know this isn't the first time they've run with this wing. Their testing shows it has a positive result which may or may not have real-world applicability. What info do you have that proves it won't work?
A:
Reminds me of the old Super-Modified class racers I watched as a kid in New Hampshire. 1/8 mi oval and they had these super sized sprint car wings that would increase angle of attack as they slowed for the corners and decrease through the straights. Pretty dorky looking but, hell, if it works...
A:
Autocross tends to be a breeding ground for funtional yet esthetically challenged mods. This wing is just another example of that.
A:
Looks like it's mounted right over the COG- might not look particularly elegant, but I'll bet it works.
