Ah...I forgot where the 10D's sensor stands in comparison to the 20/30D and the 5D. I saw a lot of noise so it had my curious. Were the shots hand held? If that's the case, I guess you'd bump up the ISO. Perhaps that explains why #5 is a tad soft from hand shake. Otherwise with a tripod, set that ISO to 100
I was off yesterday and walked around NYC with my 5D:
Do the images appear too dark? Image IMG_6775.jpg looks fine on my laptop's LCD and it was calibrated using the Monaco Optix tool.

I too have a 10D. But I don't have a wide angle lens. What brand/details is your 17-40mm?

The 17-40 is a f/4 lens:
On a 1.6 crop camera like the 10/20/30/300/350D (is the 10D a 1.6 crop?), it's actually not that wide. They make the 10-22, but it's a EF-S lens and I'm not sure if it will work on the 10D. =/

Hi Chester -
NICE shots! Got any more from your stroll? Are you a pro photog? I remember the pics you posted of your car after you got your new wheels.
Would it be OK if I copy the stoplight pic and print it for my garage? (I have a real stoplight in the garage and would love to have the pic on the wall behind.) Thanks!

Haha...thanks for the compliments!
Nope...not a pro photog...though I play one on tv Just the wonders of my job allowing me to have too many toys.
I re-"developed" the pic again for a larger version:
I was just walking around trying to capture interesting angles and practice framing/composition/etc... The pic of the light was a crop from a pretty badly framed pic...hahaha...so you won't get the full res of the 5D's sensor.
Enjoy!

Good grief! Even that I can make into an 11x14 with excellent sharpness. Thanks so much.

O, I was wondering what it was that I thought could be improved with your pictures. I think the contrast isn't there. Some people like the shadow details and stuff. Me? I like things to pop. I took the liberty of just doing a simple curves manipulation in PhotoShop.

I'm curious to see the pictures of your other rides as well!!! Show us, Show us!!!

I have absolutely no idea what I am doing when it comes to photography other than knowing how to press the big button on the top of the camera to make it click and take a picture so I apologize if this is a truly dumb question but...
How do you get that effect with the black and white background but the car is in full color? Is that something your camera does or do you do it by hand in PhotoShop or is there a "wizard" to do it?

Yep...it's most likely done in an image editing application where you mask off the areas other than the car and either strip off the color information or you can be more clever (e.g. in Photoshop, there's the channel mixer so you can accentuate the different strengths each color channel contributes to a monochrome image).

Wow those are some trick cars. Very cool. Is the color change on the 95 nsx-t a secret or can you reveal the new color?
I can't believe you are not a professional photographer. Those photos look awesome. I so gotta try and take some cool photos this weekend.
