Car Cover Review

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I just bought a second car cover for my Exige - a Coverite Industries, Inc. "Bondtech" size A. My Lotus is almost always garaged when not being driven and covered when parked in the garage so to prevent nicks and scratches from lawn equipment, tools, etc.

I have a Sector 111 cover - a very form fitting cover - that is used when my Exige has been washed and is squeaky clean. It is a very nice cover, but I was reluctant to use it when the Exige was showing dust and dirt for fear the tight fit would mar the paint.

The Coverite cover will be used when my Exige is less than squeaky clean and during out-of-town road trips (annual wine country tour), when I want the car covered for privacy and weather reasons.

The Bontech size A is actually for the Elise, but it fits the Exige well, too. At $40, it is hard to go wrong. I have four other Coverite covers (two Audis, one Scion, one VW) over the years and have been pleased with them. It is a great light duty cover, and the size A works for both USA Lotus models. I recommend it.

Is that a tyvek cover by any chance?
A:
I have the Weathershield from Sector 111. It is about a year old and has faded quite a bit. I am trying to find out from the manufacturer if I can redye cover. Sent the email out early last week and no answer as yet.

I will probably ask Sector 111 the question next week.

So I am a little disappointed but only to the extent of the fading, the other aspects of the product are great.

have fun
