You know, I wouldn't say anything so hurtful or mean if you were trying to make a point and sticking by it.

Does anyone can give advise from looking at pictures if an Elise front suspension is fixable?

if it's the one on ebay, no, it's not fixable.
BTW, congrats on taking thread hijacking to a whole different level!

Is there a drag strip in chicago? All the talk of no standing starts. I haven't done one in mine, but this could be a good chance to really spank one of these puppies. Don't even have to wash it before taking it back.

This is one of the dangers of having rental sports cars.... heck it may be worth Zen's while to purchase one of the scan tools and warn and then surcharge for abusive driving
Surely there are lessons to be learned from the Hertz GT-350s here.... (although the current generation of Hertz GT350H's actually spurred a retail version of the car....). Interesting.

I'm pretty new here, but this Larry guy needs to calm down.....its a $45k car not the Mona Lisa. And from reading Zen's other posts, he's not just pimping and spamming his business.
As a non owner, I think its a great idea, and will be renting from Zen. I currently own a more civilized s2000, but like many others, would like to make the transition to an Elise. But like many before, have concerns about being able to handle the characteristics and quirks of the Elise, as a part time daily driver (April-Oct).
Now I'll be able to do an extended test drive....odds are, Zen will be converting more people into becoming Lotus owners....and judging from the For Sale forum, current owners wanting to maintain stable resale prices, need more potential Lotus consumers...

haha.....yes, these are what I was thinking of when I posted that. I wouldn't really do it myself, but it has been done.

66 posts later and I am back from dinner with my wife. Well Larry, judging by the numerous PM's I have received I guess I am not the only one that thinks you are an ASS.
With that said. I am northern suburbs of Chicago. I will pick someone up at Ohare for a rental. Not for the buck, more to make a FRIEND.
YES LARRY, THAT IS WHY I DO THIS. FOR THE FRIENDSHIP.
I like cars. I like to talk cars. Hell cars are my life. Always have been, always will be. There is a Lotus in my drive now. Why? Because I like the car. Not because I am the car rental PIMP and want to strut my stuff for my neighbors to see.
Phlyp, more than happy for an interview, I would love to show you my new shop. Promise it to be the PREMIER shop in the midwest. Build anything you want.
My cars will be monitored with several devices. the most informative will record the driving habits of my customers. Redline, Hard Brake, Hard Accel,Top speed and the like. It will send an alarm when parameters are met. I will download all this info upon checkin and will charge accordingly.
I am sure this discussion is not over for tonite, but I got a kid crying. Will be back

If we could bolt in a cage without destroying the interior like the Hertz Shelby's I would have rental deposit down for every SCCA race weekend in chicago. Just buy a cage and some brake pads and you're good to go.

I'm not a mod, but I count two major forum rules being broken -- one trick pony and personal attack. The first punch was most certainly not thrown by Zen. I won't quote it, but I found it to be particularly distasteful.

"One trick pony" is a major rule? I always considered it a very minor rule, and until recent events with Stan never even saw it mentioned.

How much is the rate with full insurance? Renting two or three of them can be good as get-away cars, used in a heist.

If I broke any forum rules or offended anyone I apologize. That was not my intention. I started this thread because I was EXCITED about my new cars.
Thanks for pissing on that Larry.

No insurance will be sold on the Lotus

Very cool on the interview, I'd be glad to do a shop review too. Are you guys settled in yet?
BTW, here's the blurb about your new additions to the "fun fleet"
We're also talking about it here:
and here too:
I think you're doing a great service, but creating more Lotus addicts. A test drive in the Lotus ruined my 400+hp Supra for me. Bahahah!
I'm also very glad to hear you've got some means of telling whether or not renters beat on the cars, no one wants to hear about beaten cars Kudos!

Little bit of advice: You should get a more generic website name, like "chitowncar.com" or "chirents.com" or something that people will remember when they want to rent ANY car.
Great Idea. My normal site is www.budgetnorthshore.com but perhaps I need something easy and to the point.

wtf is it with people who bitch about someone elses thread - are they drawn by some force that they HAVE to read that thread? JUST DONT FRIGGIN READ THIS THREAD OR ANY RENTAL ONE IF IT BOTHERS YOU SO MUCH.
I miss the old ET

Right, but you could steal what, like $3,000? The Lotus isn't exactly the perfect heist car. Not enough storage.
(Not that I've given this all that much thought... don't start tapping my lines, FBI, k?)
