I don't really see how the addition of headers would change the exhaust quality to the point where you won't pass emissions.. As long as you don't remove the emissions components from the engine or remove the cats, emissions won't likely be your problem.
The only thing I can think of is noise.. but again, with proper cats and mufflers that shouldn't be a problem either.
I'm guessing they just didn't want to pay for licensing.

The O2 sensors aren't just for smog purposes, the car won't have much of any idea how to calculate Air/Fuel Mixture without it. The O2 sensors plug in after the headers anyway..
Lacking EGR connections is more likely to cause it to not be street legal though.. in fact I'm willing to bet that you need to remove the EGR components in order to install the headers properly.

Well I wasn't sure how the 350z had it's emmisions stuff hooked up. I know some cars the O2 sensor and EGR go into the header which is why I mentioned it. You are right though, the o2 sensor would have to stay in.

it's all a scam. put cheap parts on a car so everyone will buy aftermarket replacements. then make your own aftermarket replacements and call them "genuine".

Speaking of that we should all boycott Nismo products... why release a sports car with such crappy components when they clearly have such potential in their grasps... why fall so short on such a hyped up car by throwing average run-of-the-mill parts like the headers on the car when a more efficient alternative exists???
hmm... maybe because the cost would be too damn high for the average person who isn't interested in higher performance of their vehicle... and it would be rather stupid to send all the customers to 3rd party manufacturers when Nissan does have the potential to make parts for the selective buyer...
hmmm.... there's a concept....
btw i'm not really meaning to be a smartass... i just happen to sound that way...please excuse me... but their prices are a little high...
