Dash Gauge Cluster

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Went out to start the car yesterday, battery completely dead. Nothing had been left on. Checked headlight switch, trunk, etc. Everything in normal position. Now the 'on board computer gauge' ( speedo, mpg, temp, etc) is dead. I found another complaint similar to my experience on 'my car stats.com'
Complaint stated "battery being drained by some type of electrical short and dealer cannot fix it". Has happened 3 consecutive times"

Has anyone on forum experienced this?

Thanks!

Mine has done the same! I gave it time and has not done it since last dec.

Mine tends to do it in the cold also. It will start off with the needles on the voltmeter and the oil pressure gauges "jumping" and the trip computer "booting up" over and over again... then eventually it will die completely.

Mine died in January of the past two years... actually twice in 2004 and once this year... when it was cold outside.

Just for the hell of it, I am going to see if dealer can narrow down what model year they have replaced the cluster gauge controller, when I go back in. Of course I had the issue of the dead battery along with the gauges going out..Dealer didn't have much to say about that !
