when to trade?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

my performance 350z is almost 3 years old. got it oct 2002.
i have 51k miles on it.
i bought a 100k warranty.

when do you think the best time is to get rid of the car for financial and practical (expected repair) reasons?

let me clarify my questions......
my car is paid for. this is not the issue. i dont need the money out of it and there are no payments.

maybe the question really is this.
is there a better time economically to trade a car?
i have noticed that once a car hits 100k it seems to lose a lot of value.
are there formulas for when it makes most sense to get rid of it?
when do cars really start costing a lot for repairs?
i have driven cars till they had 180k and then had to give them away. along the way i had some pretty expensive repairs.
is there a study or knowledge as to when it is the wisest point to move on?

whevern you think it makes sense for you to do so given your financial position. That is an answer but not what you want to hear. You need to talk to someone that understands your financial postion if you don't understand it. Sorry, without this information no one can really help tell you when you can afford to walk away from the car.

Depends on how much you owe, but probably just before or just after basic warranty expires for most people.
