A&Q about 350Z
Q:
After lurking here for months trying to decide if I could really live with a Z, I finally decided to take the plunge. Saturday I bought a Redline 05 Enthusiast. So far, everything I have previously read has turned out to be true. Interior plastic looks cheap, visibility is poor, stereo doesn't sound that great, lots of road noise compared to a normal car, but .... cornering is amazing, acceleration is fantastic and almost everyone has some comment about it. After driving a 200SX SE-R for 8 years this is quite a change. I had to get an automatic because my left knee has gone south but the manual shift mode works well once you get used to it.
Just a couple things to complain about.
1. The rear view mirror is so low that it makes a blind spot for me. Even at it's highest position and the seat lowered to it's lowest position, I have to duck a bit at a four way stop to see if anyone is there.
2. When looking out the rear view mirror I can clearly see the reflection of the strut tower bar. This isn't something I can't live with, it's just annoying.
This forum has been a great help in making my purchase decision. No regrets so far. It's a blast to drive. Thanks for the info.

Congratulations!
The engine break-in schedule is a drag, if you follow it, but it will pass quickly if this is your daily driver.

unique name,
so you didn't actually take a test drive and sit in the car before you took the plunge? your post sounded like you never saw a 350z until you bought it?
A:
inquisitive,
Yes, of course I sat in it and test drove it before buying it. But it's impossible to notice everything in a test drive. I'm sure I will continue to find more things I really like and dislike as time goes on.

Congratulations!!!!!
Put a couple of 1.5 inch blind spot mirrors on your side mirrors!!!
You will get used to rear view mirror. The mirror adjusts more ways than up and down. It slides forward and backward.
Enjoy your new car!!!!!!

i have the same problem with the rearview mirror blind spot.i've come close to pulling out in front of someone a few times because of it.i almost ripped it of the windshield.i also don't like the quarter windows and the rear window.the quarter windows are the worst when pulling out of a parking spot.out of all the dislikes or inconvieniences about the the car there are much more positives.i'm a different person when i'm behind the wheel of that very fine sports car.than i am when i'm in my civic grocery getter.enjoy the car it will bring lots of smiles don't let some of the people on here bring you down about the car.they've had there share of bad experiences and thats to bad but it's still a great car.have fun!

Unique Name.
Congrads. One of the best tips I have found on here is to adjust your outside mirrors where you barely see the edge of your car. The center mirror covers behind you and the outside mirrors will help with blind spots in this position. Enjoy.

Just a couple things to complain about???? Dude, no disrespect, but why the hell did you buy the Z with several of your complaints listed above. Just wait until you get feathering and your gonna be crying a storm. Jeez.
Good luck.

pezman,
Thanks for the tip. I turned the rear view mirror upside down and visibility is much better now.
All,
I don't mean to complain. I know you've heard enough of that. It's a great car. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

i can't see out the rearview anyway b/c of the 2 12" kickers rattling it... you'll get used to it... i believe somone sells a carbon fiber cover for the strut brace if you wanna go that route...

I find it very humorous, all the nit picking about this car. Park it and ride the bus for a month or go rent a KIA for a while. Move to Iraq and see if you can get from point "A" to point "B" with out getting shot. This is wrong and that is wrong and those knobs over there are too big, oh yea i dont like seeing that reflextion, and that plastic there looks cheap. JEEZ...accept it for what it is and ENJOY the RIDE! i bought mine and everyday someone comes to me and says wow what a nice car.I have a chevy small block in a first generation 280z. This car is way faster than my 350 but does that make the 350 any less of a car...NO.. So lighten up and KEEP the DRIVE ALIVE!!!!! My friend lost his leg this week to Cancer and has less than a year to go..... wife and 3 kids ......... you not being able to handle the rear view mirror on your brand new 350z seems pretty petty in my books.........
