Class action fallout

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

the value is already in the crapper. My 03 Touring 6MT with NAV books out at $21K. Far cry from its $36K price tag.

According to Kelly Blue Book a Honda Accord EX 4 Door V6 with all the trimmings can fetch close to $35K new & a two year old used one with only 35,000 miles 'suggested' value is $21K, less of course if you trade.

Seems if a 'almighty value' Honda drops like that then seems its the norm.

My other car, the Marauder, sold for $35K new in 03 and I fetched mine for $16,000 a few months back. And thats on a limited 2 year run car.

A new car drops close to 30% of it's value when one drives it off the lot.

Add to that used car prices are DOWN all over the map and presto....Your car may not be worth what you hope for...maybe a lot less.

Buy the car to drive...preferably a long time...and forget the short term depreciation....or always buy used and let the 1st buyer eat the drop.

It's a broken record but ALL cars are a horrible "investment" at least those you can drive everyday.

A:

it's cool because I leased mine so Nissan gets it back.

Kelley Blue Book value of my Z is 25k trade in and retail is almost 30K!

I have no complaints!!!!!

We heard these same predictions two years ago when the issue first came to light, especially after R&T reported it in their long term testing.

Then this year, the Z is reported to have one of the highest resale values.

Sorry, but I just don't see a crash in value coming. It really doesn't matter as I plan or driving this (or some other) Z to the grave.

KBB pricing is also different from zip code to zip code for the exact same car.

Who's going to buy a private sale Z with no warranty? There are 100's of used Z's in my zipcode (use 33132), and some have 12 or 24mo. dealership-provided warranties to move them.

To think that you'll get KBB Resale is a farce. At private sale, you might get $1K over KBB trade value.

You guys are nuts thinking you have something of value. Don't be misled by a happy quote online. It's just there to make you happy. It's not reality.

I'm dealing in reality dollars here. Not "make believe I think a Z is worth money" dollars.
