A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Get an extended warantee from a credit union. ~ $500 for 100K bumper to bumper. That way you can drive it a while longer and not worry about getting stuck with huge costs. You'll lose more than $500 by trading it in or selling it to someone else.
This is of course you still love the car........

The nice thing about the extended warantee from a credit union or bank is that you don't have to take it to NISSAN to get it fixed in most contracts.
Just read it carefully.
I blew out a tranny racing in one of my cars. Took the car to the dealer. They said $2500 to fix. I took it to independant shop where I have had many trannies built in the past. He took care of the whole thing including contacting the insurance company and collecting the deductable.
The transmission shifted better than new after the rebuild. It needed a 3rd Gear / syncros and input shaft that I had twisted. He only charged the warantee company $1350 to fix. Dealer are rip offs and most of the time they are not the pros they portray to be. Or, they send it out anyways.
I have to say I do not generally buy waranties but with the cars getting more and more complicated and expensive to repair. I have started to do this with the new cars I own. I wait until the warantee is just about up and then go shopping for a aftermarket warentee.
I now carry 6year 100K warantees on four cars and it has cost me less than that $2500 I would have had to paid Pontiac a couple years back.
