A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hello,
All of a sudden, yesterday morning, my windows wouldn't roll up or down. The passenger window works fine, but for some reason i couldn't get my driver's side to power up or down. I kept trying, but it wouldn't work. Late this afternoon, for some unknown reason, it was able to roll up and down. Just tonite after getting back from the grocery store, it went out on me again. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's probably your window motor.
Either try reprogramming or replacing the window motor.
If you are under warranty, go to your dealer.

again... like zooom said, there are postings already on this issue. Please search.
there is a reset switch if you take the door panel off. u can't miss it, it's very easy to find. there's a posting on how to reprogram the window.
i took my window motor apart and fixed it by cleaning the brush. The brush was clogged and was worn a bit. Clean the window motor if you want to save money (if your warranty expired).
Good luck.

i've had mine replaced 2 times. when initally addressing the problem nissan had issued a TSB for these window problems. regarding the warranty, if nissan issued a TSB for this item wouldn't it be covered regardless of in or out of warranty? mine was under warranty at the time and still is, i bought extended warranty.
this just seems as nissan should repair free of charge regardless of warranty since the problem was identified quite some time ago with the product. just because yours did not exhibit problems during warranty period still should not excuse the fact the these items were problematic from the get go.

Don't count on that extended warranty to cover "reprogramming"; I had to pay $40 for mine and I was still under 36/36,000. I did get the drivers side motor replaced, the motor was bad, but the passenger side just went back down on its own when using auto-up. Reprogrammed = $40

what dealer do you use for repairs etc.? i have been using performance nissan - i'm sure your familiar with them. they are by far the best service dept i have ever used. i believe that if you explained the situation and the history with the windows, which they should be all to familiar with that the repair should be of no charge. if not i'd be looking for a new service dept.

Gang,
All Auto Companies will only go for the length of their warranty and no more, no matter what. Some will "Good Will" some things. However, I have found in the past that Nissan is not one of them. When you run out of miles or time with Nissan, they are done as far as they are concerned, TSB or not.

Doing the reset procedure will not fix the issue as it is a problem with the carbon brushes inside the motor wearing away and not making contact anymore.
A:
kj301 is on the money on this. i cleaned the brushes.. but one of em was worn out... it makes contact but soon or later, it'll wear out... do you know where u can buy the carbon brushes? is it replaceable?
A:
omg... my window died on me today... i had the window motor's carbon brushes cleaned but after a week, the window died... i'm gonna take it apart tomorrow again... i really need to find a pair of carbon brushes. i would rather replace them than spending $100 replacing the whole motor... i hate Z window motor!
