i had some kid last night rising my azz we got out of the const. zone into multiple lanes he floors it and goes roaring around me I nail it and smoke him. He was in a sonoma and I was in my 90 gmc sierra with a 350 and a 3.73 rear end. So i went from 30 to 80 in maybe a block and he caught up later and said "For a big red truck it fast". Oh well I dont street race very often.

thats what i mean KillaZ... i posted about this a LOOOONG time ago... about how "kids" [and i use that loosely (I'm only 20)] sit there with near to bone stock CRXs, Civics, and Escorts etc. and pull up to a Z and want to race... most of the time they don't talk trash to me and just want to i guess test their car, so i'm not that stuck up to let them... but...
When i posted that i believe someone told me to STFU too because i sounded like i was talking like i owned a Ferrari or something and that i looked down on people with not enough money for a "higher grade" car.
I used to drive a Civic even when i had it I only put a few things on it... Mugen Strut Brace, and 12" woofers, that being because i knew the engine was weak, and unless i was going to dump 8-10K into it it would still not have the same potential as for instance a Z...
And like someones Sig... there's always someone faster so why bother?
If i race its for fun... not to prove a point... so why are people running around with CRXs, Civic and other subcompacts trying to "prove a point"

Yeah, it can be insulting when people whose cars are in another league try to race you. I had a guy try to race me in a Hummer H2. Another one tried to race me in a 90's Jeep Cherokee 4.0 V6.
They're just trying to have fun and maybe see you drive your car crazy. Hell, I've tried to get Vipers to race just so I can see them show off their car!
But him calling your car a slow p.o.s. is uncalled for. I guess you get that a lot if you live in Vice City.

I dont think you are a hater. But I remember when I was younger and could only afford a smaller home. I would drive around and see an $100,000 home and go wow! Today I can afford much more and I now look back on the old houses and say, what did I see in that. Same goes for people and their cars. It doesnt matter what they spend on it, 3K or 30K to them at that time its great to them and they may be proud of it and you know what? They should be! So try not to let it bother you to much when this happens, just be glad you are fortunate to be able to have what you have, and maybe just give em a wave and a smile, cause in the end its probably their way of paying respect. I dont know.

Thing is when you actually have a fast car you don't need your mouth to back it up. I love it when people pull up and want to race, I get people trying to race me when I'm driving an unmarked detective cruiser. People just want to have fun. I'll run about anybody but if you come up to me running your mouth about how bad you are then;
1. I'm not going to run you, as this is the type of hot head that cuts in and out of traffic endangering others, passing in the turn lanes etc.
2. I'll likely report your car/tag as a possible "instigator" more than likely you'll be getting pulled for anything you do wrong.
True any car can be made fast, how one conducts themselves in public however has no influence on the cars capabilities. Racing to me is best played with a poker face - the competitor need not know what I have under the hood or what I have in my mind.

Exactly... I don't deny that people can make any car fast... i am a firm believer that the person with the most money will be quicker... for the simple fact that you can do anything they want to a car it's just time and money...
but just like BLUZTRK says... 99 out of 100 it's just some young punk that either wants to see your car run or really thinks he has a shot... and the only reason why they talk trash is to enrage you and get you to race...
just like stated... the GTO i raced was way too dnagerous but he knew all the signaling for street racing...
