What is the big deal about this news clip? This is after all just a local news report. I agree Nissan has done a crappy job at satisfying some of the Z owner's who's car has been really bad but still to think this is the beginning of some sort of fix or getting any closer to some sort of resolution from Nissan is incorrect.
This might make more of a statement to Nissan if it was on one of the national news channels or anything that would garner national attention. Otherwise it's nothing more than a local report affecting only that localized market, helping those lawyers involved, and affecting us here since after all this IS a Z forum we all are reading.
What's funny to me is that guy in that clip with the convertible Z that he 'saved every penny' to afford and buy a $40K car and now he's bitching about the problems in his car. I just think he or anyone else making that kind of purchase NEEDS to do some research on it. But he gets no sympathy from me whatsoever. Sure we all have the expectation of buying a car with absolutely no problems and if any do arise we expect the dealership to fix them. Us who bought the 2003 Z didn't have this luxury of past knowledge, so if Joe Blow in the clip would have done the simplest of google searches on the car, he would have been bound to find something about the tire problem, thus helping him to make an informed decision on buying it or not.
Then the part about his car pulling so much...that sucks for him... so just for shits and giggles on the way back from lunch today with my coworker, I gunned it as we were pulling off 101 in a straight away and I let go of the wheel and even stomped on the brakes hard, and it was perfectly straight. Like I said these issues have affected others WAY more than others and while I am not claiming it hasn't affected my car (had feathering tires replaced just before reaching 21K miles with plenty of tread still left) not am I trying to defend Nissan it just gets old reading everyone's posts about feathering, cupping, whatever you wish to call it.
I am sure I would complain just as much as others are if my tires needed replacing after only a few thousand miles...but since I don't need to I am not as vocal as others. Sometimes thought it gets old reading post after post of everyone complaining on the same issue...new thread after new thread. Plus what's the most annoying is that those of you who no longer own this so called 'POS' on here telling us about our 'POS' Z's. It just seems like you guys should move on to another site that's devoted to your new non-Nissan car and let us who still own and enjoy our cars do just that, without having to hear over and over how much of a shitty car we're still driving or how you're new mission in life it to get Nissan back where it hurts, their pockets. You're all preaching to the choir guys. We're all on here becasue about I'd say 95% of us own a 350Z already, so by constantly complaining about it to us who already own, will not hurt Nissan as much as you think. How about just telling your experience to others by word of mouth and remember this problem is only known to apply to the Z's not any other model. I know I would still feel comfortable getting say a Maxima, but again I don't feel like Nissan screwed me because I knew getting the 1st year model there were bound to be problems with the design, bt yes I would expect them to handle it better after the first year rather than to cover it up....but to think lining the pockets of lawyers will help, hey whatever makes you feel better I guess.

Anyway my appologies for the long ramble, it's late, I'm tired and it's just my $0.02 on the subject.

Get the word out and they will fix it. The bottom line, and even nay-sayers admit it,

Nissan SHOULD:

- Do a RECALL and fix the suspension.

- Stop lying about the fix. The 2004 has the same suspension. This alone should be a lawsuit. It's a LIE.

- Replace tires on all models without question. Stop treating the customer like a liar. Put the car on a lift, and if you see cupping, fix it!

- Let the consumer know that without new suspension parts, this will continue to happen.

- Ship all 2006 models with the new fixed suspension design so that there are no hassles.

- Apologize for the inconvience and hope that the customer will buy another car from them in the future.

Wow, you're lucky... most times a blowout like that does serious damage.

This is just very dissapointing. Even my wife told me that i should have bought the Infinity. I'm still very much in love with the car, so i choose to put up with this issue. My question is, which tire brand would you guys recommend for the car, regardless of price. So you guys now, at 12k miles on my 04 Z, i hear the "noise" coming from the front tires at low speeds, and more noticeble when approaching a light. This totally suxs. Would the 06 models be fixed by then?

I installed Good Year Eagle F1 GS D3s all the way around when my rears wore out.

Better tire wear rating. Mine have some noise at 7k. But nothing like the Bridgestones at the same mileage.

The Toyo Proxys T1s are also a great tire for the 350Z.

Good luck...
