You're both State Farm? You're in good hands. Why do you want a check? Going to dump the stock bumper and replace with some (hideous) kit? When something like this happened to me, my agent simply told me to go to the body shop of my choice and get it done. Like a good neighbor, State Farm has always been there for me.
My agent? David White, Lynchburg, VA.

Not fast enough to merit a whiplash incident... too bad.
Why do I want a check? I'm getting married this year, cash is tight, a little bank would help out right now. I'm not looking to rape State Farm for $$, they've been my ins co. forever, just want to convert a bad situation into some good.

Got sideswiped in a paeking lot, no note. Got an estimate at Nissan Body Shop for over $900. Showed Geico the estimate and they cut me a check for $900+ minus $500 deductible. Left me with over $400. Went to some guy who restores Porsches and paid him $500 cash. Little money out of my pocket and Geico paid for rental too.

Good luck! If she had a different insurance company State Farm would try to ream their ass BUT since they would have to pay strait out they wont want to even talk to you. Besides, you've got a F*#king 350Z! And you want free money from insurance? Assholes like you make everyones rates horrable. If your that strapped for cash maybe you shouldnt have a $40K car. The honda civic value package is going for $150 a month. JERK.
If everyone left well-enough alone, we wouldn't have anything great.
A:
All due respect, SpeedsterZ, and none is due if you're not kidding....your statement is ridiculous, and immoral. People like you CAUSE the damn high rates.
If you didn't actually hurt your neck, you are not due any more than damages recovery. In doing what you did, you merely cause MY premium to be high.
A:
BEFORE YOU FILE A CLAIM OR REPORT:
Here's an idea. Get Three estimates of the repair. High Med Low we'll call them. If it is under $750 in most states you do not have to report the accident. This is good, it doesn't go on your record. Or on theirs.
TALK to the person that rear ended you and explain she doesn't want to put this on her record either. Two or three in a year and State Farm is canceling these days.
I had the same thing happen to me on my Firebird.
Recieve estimates of rear bumper damage ( hole in bumper )
$495 for Miracle, $560 for good body shop, $700 for the best body shop I know (this is where I got my car fixed).
I told the lady that hit me I do not want the crummy job on my perfect firebird and she knew it. However, I do not expect her to pay for the most expensive place in town. So, we agreed that we would go with the middle estimate. She coughed up $560 ($60 over her ded), I coughed up $140 to go the place I knew I would get the perfect job.
It did not go on either of our records, Insurance can not ding me or her, and it was completely legal.
If more people did this your rates and theirs would be cheaper and the police and insurance companies would win out.
This only works if the person hits you admits to the damage.
In your case you could take the money pocket it and live with the dent until you could afford/want to fix it.
It works if you can communicate with people. It doesn't if they do not admit fault or will not talk to you.
It works for me. Done this three times and everyone wins. Minor dings are such a nusance.
Good Luck !!!!

same... i barely scaped this girls rear bumper... with my other car... virtually no damage on her car... dented my fender pretty bad... estimate was like 250... so i gave her 250 in a check... i bet she didn't fix it but rather pocketed it...
i accidentally hit somone like last week... my windshield was hazy so i squirted some fluid and began wiping by the time it cleared i noticed i was like 8 feet from a stopped car...going like 30... i mashed the brakes and have you all ever noticed when you push your brakes sometimes it'll make a buzzing noise and your brakes won't work as well... well that was the case in this... i smacked the dudes rear end and was like f***!!! i followed him to a gas station and he got out looked at his car...i asked if he was ok...went to look at his car... backed up to look at my car...turned around and he had driven off... i was like COOL!!! i got out of that one!!! the last thing i wanted to do was pay for this guy's car... so i took it to heart and have been driving extra careful now...

Well, I don't think you know either

Ha Ha Ha! too bad all of your money cant buy you a brain. Pocketing insurance money instead of having the car repaired is FRAUD! Yes, she rear ended you and you are entitled to be compensated by returning your vehicle to the state it was in before the accident. If you file a claim and dont use the money for what you said you did, you are breaking the law and there-fore causing rates to go up. And you said you didn't pay that much for the car?.?. Oh, I guess it must already have a salvage title. BRAT

A:
When I had hail damage on my car State farm wrote a check directly to me. Told me I could either get it fixed or not. Was up to me. I was not under the impression that it would have been fraud if I just kept the money. Maybe laws are different state to state.

Aw! how cute. Now you have heresay and thats all you need to prove your point. Anytime insurance has to pay out their bottom line goes up. Then to compensate, rates go up. You take money and get your car fixed, thats what insurance is there for. You take money and buy more meguiars with it, thats stupid and causes a vain increace in rates. Too bad growing up with parents in the insurance business didn't gain you any common sense. Just remember: "Installing a neon license plate frame is not import tuning." I bet you like golf too.
If everyone left well-enough alone, we wouldn't have anything great.

Staticivi03 - I knew that if you leased a vehicle that $500 was mandated.
I think it sucks when the finiancing companies mandate your insurance after the state has already made limits.
No matter what, you are responsible to pay for the car so the deductable shouldn't matter to them.
I guess they are afraid if someone crashes it and they don't have the $1000 deductable then the car will stay smashed and if they repo the car it is more than likely be damaged. I really, think that would be a rarety.
Finance companies and Insurance companies are in this together you know.
Pay the car off as soon as you can so you have the control.
