A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I have hit a stone wall with Nissan regarding the tire issue. I have an 04 roadster that now has it's third set of tires in 22000 mi. Nissan says the 04's do not have a problem. I am hoping that Nissan monitors this forum so that I can tell them and the rest of the forum that Nissan sucks. I have owned four z cars and two maximas. This Z is my last Nissan product. Maybe if enough of us do this they may get the message. Sadly the word is out about the tire problem around here. (NC) There are many used Z's for sale and I can't give mine away. I'm going to lose my butt on the car. Well I'm through venting now thanks for your time.

Get an alignment done by a good, reputable shop that works on stuff live 'vettes and M3s and Porsches in your area. A proper alignment to Nissan's latest specs won't completely eliminate feathering (they'll still fuzz up a bit and roar), but the tires will last a lot longer... I've had mine on for almost 20k miles and they still have life left! $70-100.00 for a good alignment is a lot cheaper than selling your car and losing your butt.

280zxfan has it right. I do not think Nissan has a handle on it. A performance shop will do a better job.

Unfortunately, we might have to take it back to the performance shop a couple of times to get it right. At least, they will look at how the tires are wearing and adjust the alignment accordingly.

Nissan mechanics are set on a spec and won't adjust for different cars or requirements. Mfg go with a middle of the road approach and when it doesn't work for all cars they scratch their head and say "I don't know" and "This all Nissan will let us do"

This has always been true as long as I have driven so you need to find another way.

$75 dollar for a good performance alignment is worth it. Just let them know how you drive the car. They do set up a track car different from a street car ..... and guys generally the inside of the tire wears if they go overboard a little. They can adjust even that if you have a good alignment shop.

In the SF Bay Area - I would recommend Roger Kaus Racing - Hayward.

Tell them Mach5 Racing sent you.
