O2 Sensors/MAF sensor

I'd like to poll the group here to see if failure of these components is common. While this is on my '01 Pathfinder, it shares essentially the same engine (the VQ35) and engine controls with the 350Z. There are 65,000 miles on the Pathfinder.

My "Service Engine Soon" light came on last week. I pulled the codes with an OB2 scanner and it read Lean Right Bank. Both upstream O2 sensors were operating out of their voltage range and required replacement. Almost $600 with labor. Then the very next day the "Service Engine Soon" light came on again. Engine is running very weak and there are strong gasoline fumes in and around the vehicle. O2 sensors tested OK. Now having to replace the MAF sensor. Over $600 with labor.

Anyone else experiencing this? This ($1200 in 2 days) is not what I expect from a "reliable" vehicle.

It just happens. When I had my Audi TT the MAF sensor had to be replaced at 45k. You should have replaced your own MAF sensor you would have saved the labor. Depending where it is located it is easy to replace but the part itself is not cheap unless you get a remanufactured one. O2 sensors can be done yourself as well. With O2s it is the labor to put them in that is the bulk of the cost.

Yes, O2 sensors are designed to last between 30,000 and 60,000 miles on most vehicles. You probably need to have yours replaced. Seems to be about the time.

The MAF should not be going out. They aren't standard "wear" parts and its unusual that yours should be causing problems.
