Hi there,
Just wanted to know what you folks thought the difference in ride would be from the 18 in wheels vs 17. There is a person who bought a new set of wheels and tires after he got his Z. I curb checked and really scraped up two of my wheels. Thought this might be a good and inexpensive option for me. I know many of you have much experience as compared to myself in regards to this. Thanks so much.
Even though it is an easy question, at least it is not asking about tire feathering.

shouldnt really be any difference, nothing that would be noticeably annoying. even people that go from 17's to 19's say it isnt that big of a difference.

true there may be a performance disadvantage with larger wheels but it really depends on what you get. The stock 17's weigh like 25-26lbs each. you could go aftermarket and get 18's that weigh around 20lbs and you defintly wouldnt be decreasing performance.

also keep in mind that the larger the wheel diameter, the more expensive the tyres usually are! The less tyre you get, the more costly. Does that make any sense?

I went from 18" to 20" rims. The new tires are wider and are super-sticky, but they do feel a bit more clunky. The car feels slightly less nimble, but it's worth it to me. As far as the ride, I think it feels about the same.
The overall difference (good or bad) I would say is about 10%.
