Goodyear f1gsd3

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I hear they came out with new sizes recently for our Z cars. Would it be better to put on 225/50/17 and 235/50/17 on the Z as opposed to the 245/45/17 and 255/45/17? Any answer to this would be greatly appreciated. I am in the process of purchasing the f1's and would like to know what size I should put on.

A:

i believe the goodyear f1 gs-d3 doesn't have a 225/50/17 or 235/50/17. Only 225/45/17 and 235/45/17.

I believe they just came out with the new size. I read on a previous thread that the new ones were installed on a vehicle. They installed 225/50/17 and 235/50/17 on the rears.

Yes, I am the one that just installed new Eagles in the stock 17 inch sizes. I love them, very noticeable ride improvement. I have installed sound deading and also undercoated my wheelwell areas. The eagles were the final step in creating a very quiet, solid feeling 350Z. I really believe that the Eagles mounted on 17 inch rims in the stock sizes is the best combination you can get for a comfortable ride.

cstouringauto,

you just installed the new sizes for the Z car, are the new sizes roughly the same size as the stock tires? and do they ride better ? also could you let me know how much they cost installed.?

A:

They ride much better, and I feel the tires are slightly taller. This would gear up your final drive. I have not checked but tirerack has spec sheets that could shed some light on that. The specs tell you revs per mile. On the cost, My wonderful dealer paid for the fronts and I covered the rears. A local Goodyear store sold us the fronts for 160.00 and the rears for 180.00 mounted. My dealer is also selling my old rear 040s for me to help me recoupe some of my cost. I have a great working relationship with my dealer.

I just checked the revs per mile, 040s vs Eagles. I was wrong the eagles are 3 more revs per mile than the 040s, gear the final drive down not up. They really look great too. I have noticed that they like to pick-up alot of little stones. I would recommend undercoating your wheel wells.
