A&Q about 350Z
Q:
They're different racers(F1 vs. Nascar), but if you had Jeff Gordon on F1 and Michael Schumacher on Nascar, who would be better? Have these guys ever tried racing other the circuit before?
A:
Two totally different cars. two totally different drivers. A f-1 driver is not a chance taker. has a different mindset. A Nascar driver is more of a wild card, will use his car as a club so to speak. I really dont think either one would shine if taken out of their element. Fish out of water so to speak. I know people would disagree but I think they both would suck.

i believe micheal shumaker races NASCAR... or is that Mario Andretti??? i dunno but both have their own challanges... NASCAR includes tight racing quarters... with forceful winds pushing your car around easily... F1 is more fast technical driving devoted mainly to handling and passing power...
If you were to race a F1 car and a NASCAR on a F1 track the F1 would win but it's the same way around... so IMO their equal...

Well, I don't think you know either
A:
I think it was Juan Pablo Montoya in the Williams BMW.
Jeff commented on the quickness of the F1 car. Juan was amazed the Cup guys drive such heavy cars (3200 vs 1200 lbs I think) with so little brakes.
Both Cup and F1 take amazing skill, and both take years of through-the-ranks development to make it into the big time. I don't think either F1 or Cup drivers would succeed with a swap.
Neither is better, just different.

nascar is stupid:800 hp 8,000 rpm redlines, .....then the race is on,
gas........turnleft..touch brake...gas..hit someone
gas........turnleft..touch brake...gas..push someone
gas........turnleft..touch brake...gas...hit someone else
x 250= stew pid
formula 1: 5000 rpm idle, 18,000 rpm redline, 900bhp, 3 liter 90degree v10's, Now the race,
gas, shift shift shift brake, turn right, gas shift shift shift.gas, shift brake turn left, gas, brake, shift shiftturn, gas, brake ,turn, shift, gas , shift, gas , gas
gas, shift shift shift brake, turn right, gas shift shift shift.gas, shift brake turn left, gas, brake, shift shiftturn, gas, brake ,turn, shift, gas , shift, gas , gas
gas, shift shift shift brake, turn right, gas shift shift shift.gas, shift brake turn left, gas, brake, shift shiftturn, gas, brake ,turn, shift, gas , shift, gas , gas
x 55 = Pure Driving , No higher form of motor racing
I assume both schuey and gordan would not do well in each others cars during a race.

Just back off of people like this. They're not worth the time.
What a brainless comment, 1z4u2c. If it was so easy, every jackleg modded red light shogun jerkoff racer would be running Cup.
I'm done.
A:
right...thats who races the cars now...Hello? Do you watch nascar?

A GREAT RACECAR DRIVER WILL ALWAYS SHINE, GIVEN A LITTLE BIT OF TIME, REGARDLESS OF THE SERIES OR THE CAR HE IS GIVEN!!!!!
This always has been, and will be the case. Period.
Always been an F1 fan, but I do not dismiss anyone because I have been there and done that. I respect the talents of anyone that gets to drive a racecar for a living, because I tried to get there since I started in go-karts at 9, and as I made a semi-pro run at the FF2000 series a few years ago, I got to do both, drive on ovals and road courses. I've also driven SCCA GT3 tintops, and neither one was easy.
It pisses me off every time one of these threads beggins anywhere because most people don't have a fu#$ing clue of what they're writting about. "A f-1 driver is not a chance taker." My GOD!!!! WTF are you talking about? "A Nascar driver is more of a wild card"
Anyone that gets behind the wheel of either of these cars is a risk taker and a wild card. Have you ever watched an F1 race? Cause I KNOW you've never sat in a racecar that moved, let alone one that you drove, at any kind of speed, alone on any track. Heck, have you ever even taken your Z to do a track even?
Please do so this summer! That is going to teach you to respect every racecar driver, even if he's on a shifter kart.

Gang,
I don't about the rest of the NASCAR drivers. But when Jeff Gordon gets out to California and races at the NASCAR Sonoma race on the twistes in a big heavy sedan, he has won it 4 different times. Not to bad for a left turn driver. NOW Top Fuel or Funny Car, thats a rush!! Not to many drivers (FI or NASCAR) have balls big enough for that

MY GOD!!! Some people are still not getting it, are you? This is like talking to a piece of wood or something.
IT'S NOT ABOUT BALLS, IT'S NOT ABOUT CRAZINESS, IT'S NOT ABOUT A LACK OF FEAR OR A DEATHWISH. It's not even about speed.
To most racecar drivers speed is a secondary thing, something that with a little time goes away because we get used to it. The rush comes from competing, and from controlling the animal that most racecars are. From doing something most people can't do.
If drag racing was something about balls, then SOMEONE please explain this to me. Why is it that women do it, and even win in major events? Didn't they have an 18 year-old girl in top fuel a few years ago? How come she was doing this, and yet in the 99 years of Grand Prix racing there has only been one woman there, and she did so badly that she lasted three or four races before the team replaced her?
I don't follow Nascar, but there has never even been one woman driver there, has there?

Humm, I still stand by my statement. And yes I have been the driver of many types of race cars. from fiat arbiath to arnolt-bristol to mini cooper-s
and I have driven dirt track also and have autox my Z as well as my td and vette. I do agree that anyone can drive a drag car though. Its all a matter of how you look at it.

DG39,
That's right "Anyone can drive a drag car". You guys that go around corners think that it’s so damn easy that anyone can do it. You're right anyone can drive a street car from one end to the other with little or no trouble. We all do it every day at the local stoplight being the big man with a quick car. But, take a lot of horse power (10,000hp+) and God knows how many G's both starting and stopping and try getting it all down track in under 4.5 seconds and in one piece is an art no matter what you may say. Not everyone can or will do it. The Girls, yes we have them and they’re the only human females that have BALLS. And they are big ones at that. Drag racing is young enough to not have the "Good Old Boys Club" that FI, Indy, and road racing has. Those groups don't want some young gal coming in and showing the "Good Old Boys" around the track. They have had it their way for so long that they are not going to allow it to change now. But, to show that they are equal opportunity racing associations they allow a "doomed to failure" gal try it for awhile until they are so humiliated that they go away whimpering and that serves to discourage the others from trying. Drag Racing was on the same path as all other auto racing until about 40 years ago when a young lady took the bull by the horns and said watch me. Shirley then went out and won everything there was to win from Funny Car to Top Fuel for several years. Just a side note: She and Don Gartlits brought in the year 2000 at midnight in a side by side drag race which saw them leave the starting line just before the stroke of 12 in 1999 and then cross the finish line just seconds after in the new century. Shirley has just recently retired. But trust me, there will come a day that some gal just like her will say enough is enough and show the "Good Old Boys" around the track, Oval or road course. But, again, you’re correct "Anyone can drive a drag car".

Once again, missunderstood!
I know all about the "Good Old Boys Club" crap, but believe me, I don't care for it either. But it's going to end, sooner than you might think, thought it should have ended a long time ago. Danica Patrick is on her way up the racing ladder, and she's just the first name I can think of, that is really going to put women in the proffesionnal racing map.
I don't care for drag racing, pro or amature, but I know its technical aspects, I know it's much more difficult to do than most think it is, like the football/baseball crowd would, I know about the huge G loadings those guys and gals deal with, AND I HUGELY RESPECT THAT.
The same goes for the Nascar driver I don't watch every weekend, the motox rider, the Moto GP rider, the sprint car driver, and anyone else involved in motorsports, regardless of wether I follow it or not.
Gotta go now, I got home-made pizza, and it's getting cold.

Maybe Schumacher and Gordon should switch sometime just to see how they do? I'm sure it would get some real good ratings on TV!!

I believe Top Fuel Dragster pull somewhere around 5Gs during acceleration. F1 cars can pull 5Gs under heavy braking.

Under braking? Wouldn't that be -5 g's then?? =)
