A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Z fans,
Here is my story.
I have been in love with the Z since I was a kid, and if I could've bought a 280ZX when I was seven... I would own her still.
I am no gear head, but do know enough that it takes pure passion and love to get an older model Z.
I took an 06 350Z Touring for a spin, she blew me away. Impressed would be an understatement. Damn near forgot what foot goes where. I knew I had to get her...she has become an obsession...
So I need some help, so I searched, and this forum has good honest responses...so here I am.
End of story.
Need advice, suggestions, responses... from bumper to bumper...what she like as a daily driver, she perform in the rain, engine...brakes... tires....leather..navigation.... whatever you care to share.

i pride myself on my good responses, but im not too sure what you're looking for. you drove it, you love it, you buy it. Most everyone here loves theres as well. Alot of, if not all of, the problems in earlier models have been fixed by 06. its a great daily driver in most all conditions. If you live in a climate that gets snow and need to drive everyday you'll need to get snow tires though.
It obviously only has 2 seats so if you can live with that you're good. You can actually cram a surprising amount of crap into it though if need be, theres just not alot of room for real large stuff(tv's, minifridges etc...although ive fit 4 wheels and tires in it without much trouble, with the spare out of course). The VQ35 engine is pretty bulletproof its been on the list of top ten engines for years now. The 07's are coming out around january i believe and will have a new VQ35hr engine with a bit of a power boost so that may be something to consider, but all the details arent out yet.

Am looking to get an 07 Grand Touring. Live in a warm climate, very little rain. I already have an 01 Maxima, so not concerned about room.
Thanks !!!

the only complaint i have about the 350z is the difficulty checking your blind spot, but that would never stop me from buying another one.

fab ride, lots of positives: power, unique look, handling, history of vehicle, bose system (i have had no issues with sound) + only 2 seats so u don't have to taxi all your friends.
negatives: fuel consumption, blind spot, high side doors/plastic inner doors, cost of insurance.

Any word on the nav system, is it worth the $$$
A:
i have the nav. although i don't use it often i'd never buy another car without one. when you need it it's very very handy. even if you're just trying to find a doctor's office you've never been to before.

I owned a 280ZX for 10 years, most of which it was my daily driver. Great car! I loved it.
Then I came across a deal on an '04 350Z. It was amazing how similar the two cars were (at least IMO). Just that the 350Z had tons more power and much better handling. Now the 350Z is my daily driver and I love it. I don't see too much snow, but when I do, the Z still handles safe enough for my liking. I get plenty of rain here and the Z does just fine in that weather as well. The 350 gets better gas mileage than the old 280, and is much more comfortable.
My 350Z is the Enthusiast model, and it has the cloth seats. I always figured I would prefer the leather, but I'm really liking the cloth. They do not show much wear, they are easy to maintain, and they are much more comfortable in the hot summer.
I don't have the Nissan navigation, but I have a small portable navi that fits in the dash compartment snugly. This set up works well for me, and allows me to take the navi out and put it in my wife's car when we take her car on long road trips. If I didn't have this setup, I would probably go with the in-dash Eclipse navi/cd/mp3/stereo head unit.
Overall, the 350 has lived up to the Z heritage in my opinion. Highly recommended!

ok, sawasan, what is a rectangular spot mirror, does it go onto existing mirrors, or do you replace them, can u send me a link? i stuggle with blind spot, as there is no way I am anywhere near the size of u guys, i am teeny in my Z. I have zero visibility over my left shoulder if i'm merging onto a street. (i'm in a right hand drive).

Change your mirror habits.
Inside mirror is primary. The driver side should be adjusted to where when a vehicle is just starting to move out of the inside mirror's view it is starting to move into the driver side's view. You do not need to see down the side of your car in the driver's side mirror. What's there to see, anyway?
The passenger side external mirror should reveal just a slice of the side of the car on the edge closest to the door.
I've done this for years and always know where other cars are. I taught it to my wife and she never turns her head to check for cars anymore. There's no need. And if you do this, there's also no need for stick on convex mirrors, either.
I hope I articulated this well enough. It's easier in person ....

the nav. system is woth the $ in my opinion. The 06 model is a huge improvement over the one I had in my 04 Murano. I dont use it that much, but as someone else said it comes in handy and I would not buy a vehicle without one.
