A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I just bought a 2003 Touring model in Redline with the light gray leather and six speed. It is very clean and the interior is virtually like new. I've read a bit about the cold air intakes and the Catback exhaust systems as I would like a throaty sound and wouldn't mind adding a few HP. In your experienced opinions would it be safe to say that the power increase for a CAI and the Catback would be similar whether I bought Nismo components or after market hardware? I would have it installed by someone other than myself. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a k&n and love the sound. the hp gains from an exhaust and cai are negligable at best. In my opinion get them both Just for the sound!

Ease of fitment is probably the only difference you may come across besides sound. If you can get a similar product to Nismo for significantly less, go for it.

beyond your averge 3-5 hp from intake and 5-10hp from exhaust (from what i hear)... the best thing you've bought is the sound... might as well make sure it was an easy install...

Any cone filter that replaces the stupid stock filter box will have the same sound. You may as well get a Team Green filter cause they provide great flow/filtration and will sound the same as K&N or POP Charger.

As mentioned above, HP gains are minimal so might as well go with the one that sounds good. But I must add, you might as well go to the one that looks good. Of course different people have different taste, but for me, the NISMO exhaust looks great. On the Intake side, I quit deciding between the NISMO and the JWT. I went with the drop in K & N. Simple yet will give you HP gains close to the cone type ones.
