A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Has anyone else heard any noise when going in reverse and appling the brakes it a squeaky noise that sounds like metal on metal? I can 't get to the dealership until 13 Dec. Just wondering if it's just my Z that is doing this. The front is doing it also sounds like the wheel bearing is going out on the driver side. Is that covered under the warranty? Does anyone have clues to what this maybe?

New brakes are non asbestos and pad debris builds up and you get the noise in reverse from time to time. Kevlar is the material oc choice that most manufacturers have went with as a high temperature replacement. If you wash your car weekly and use Simple green or a citric based cleaner on the rotors it will minimize the noise. Or you could go to a different pad like EBC or Hawk.

There is also a tec. service bulliten out on the problem.

Jack the car up and inspect the brakes. If the rotor is touching the brake wear indicator (that little metal tab on the side of the pad) then the pads need to be replaced.
Also try spinning each rotor by gripping a lug nut and giving it a push. You should be able to determine if the bearing is bad this way. If you have a rubber mallet you can give the hub a light tap. If it sounds hollow at all (ringing, clanking, etc) from the bearing, it needs to be replace. It shouldn't make any noise and sound nice and solid.
