Q:
I currently have the Stock Brake rotors on the 04 enthusiast, I heard Stop Tech makes good rotors which reduces weight (1 1/2 lbs lighter than stock) with the same diameter, comes either sloted or cross drilled. Combining this rotor with the Hawk pads, what do you guys think of that? Also, will it damage the ABS and EBD we have in a factory set up with these install?

A:
No, it will not affect the ABS or the EBD.
I would get slotted rotors rather than drilled, slotted rotors cool effectively and also keep debris off the pads preventing. Drilled rotors look pretty cool, but I've heard of people saying they've had drilled rotors crack or collapse under extremely hard braking.
Hawk pads are good. Axxis and Akebono are also very good (but stay away from organic pads, they smell horrible after a good drive. Definitely stick with ceramic pads)

i have the setup your considering. definately make sure you use the oem shims on install. if not you will eventuallly end up with some brake noise/chatter when driving over small bumps at low speeds. this drove me crazy until the dealer that did the install finally isolated the noise. my next set of pads will be the nismos. the hawks will last quite some time and limited brake dust compared to the oem pads=crap i also used the slotted rotors and have been good so far 33k + miles on front pads although the dealer gave me another set of rears so they have about 29k on them good luck!!

Great, thank you both for the input. Both of you got me convince 100%. I'll get the slotted with Hawk pads. Keep the OEM shims and get ceramic pads.

Definitely use the OEM shims. Shops will tell you to replace them but don't listen. Use the ones you have. Thats really good advice!

if you get stop tech rotors why not get satisfied gran sport brake pads? everyone around here says get hawk or akebono but whatever. i find the GS6 pads superior..

Axxis, Akebono and Hawk are all good. Those are about the only three brands of pads I'd buy.
