06 clutch

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

z clutches in the past have been really stiff. i've driven the 06 and the active steering and lighter clutch make it really nice to drive. wondering what i can do to get that same "lighter" clutch feel in my 03 brickyard? go to the dealership and have them loosen the clutch or install third party clutch system via clutch masters?

thanks.

Well, the only thing that will change the feel of the clutch is to switch out the master and slave cylinders with the ones from an '06. The clutches themselves are identical otherwise...

Installing an aftermarket clutch will only make it stiffer cause they usually have a stronger pressureplate spring. The spring in the clutch is what pushes back against the pedal, and the master and slave cylinders are the external parts you can change to adjust the stiffness with the same clutch installed.

Usually you want a nice stiff clutch on a sports car, it lets you feel the clutch a lot better. If I had the choice, I'd take the nice stiff clutch over the feather touch clutch any day.... but i guess thats just me.

All the high rev-up engines have the softer clutch pedal. It started with the 05 Track and 35AE's.

personally i like the feel... i could want it just a little stiffer but stock is pretty good.. IMO... not to mention that i also kind of like the harsher engagements too like some of the more race ready clutches... i guess it just has that much more of a race feel to it... something IMO i sports car should have...

i'm presonally looking to get a 1200G ACT or clutchmasters clutch... still need to do some more research before my purchase but i heard from someone on here that they had one installed and had good results with one of that level... so i'm still looking into it...
