A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I installed the Pop Charger last week and this thing is great for the money. Wish I would of installed sooner. The only drawback is a whisling vacuum sound that came on a few days after installation.

Hey, I just got a 350z, so I am new to a lot of this stuff..hwta's a Pop Charger?

its a cold air intake....basically it replaces your stock flat airfilter with a large cone like filter. The premise is that it will increase air flow to your engine which should give you more power. It's one of the cheapest performance modifications you can do($110), its also much cheaper than other CAI's . With that said it will only give you a few extra hp and torque(maybe 5hp) and this isnt really noticeable from the human perspective. It does however give the car a a faint whistling/sucking sound under quick throttle that most peopl like and a little meaner grunt at the top end. Ive had mine for probly 10k miles now and love it.

i agree, best mod for the buck. Growl is awesome, and you can feel the horse power increase!! (well not really but you convince yourself you can cuz you just spent 110 bucks)

When installing the POP-Charger...don't mess with the MAF sensor..you can unplug it but put it back in the same spot. You need to look real close and you'll see arrows on the MAF tube align those arrows. There was no mention of this in the JWT install instructions. I also had to improvise a little with the bracket connection going across. It also comes with the heatshield. The ECU adjust in about a week after installation. In fact, I just got done cleaning mine the other day for the first time. Certain steps need to be followed when cleaning & oiling the filter. BTW It cannot be over oiled!!
My SB ZR still feels like HEAVEN....what a wild ride!

Those generation maxima MAF's were faulty. My good friend has lost 2 of his, his first one was 600, the 2nd 60, same part, same dealer, just 2 years later when the public outrage called for the part price to be lowered. 3/4 maxima's in his little car club of about 20 maximas from around houston had this same problem.
That being said, be very careful with the MAF regardless, they are fragile and expensive.

Yo guys:
Here's an interesting statement from K&N regarding damage to MAF sensor as a result of their filter oil:
http://www.knfilters.com/massair.htm
I have a drop-in K&N filter in my stock intake (don't want to give up my "stock" classification for car shows). Haven't had to clean & oil it yet, but I'm a bit worried.

If you over oil the filter, oil will stick to the hot wire and when the wire cleans itself it can ignite the oil frying the element. This is of course the worst case scenario.
Whats more likely is the hotwire will just get extremely gummed up due to the oil and any particulates that may stick to the oily wire. Too much build up and the wire will not be able to clean itself properly or measure air mass properly resulting in malfunction.
Just be careful, its not hard to oil a filter. Its dyed so you can see it, and you only need to apply enough to show the color of the dye. You don't need to spray it till its dripping off the filter or the can is empty..

Hello,
I see that you have a Nismo exhaust....is it the Catback that I see in the Nisno catalog? Does it sound more robust, throatier, than the stock exhaust? Does it seem to provide more power throughout the rpm range or just mid to high rpm's? I just bought a 2003 Touring with 30K miles in Redline. It is super clean on the outside and the inside is "as new".
Thanks.
