Cost question

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Do you, or anyone else, have a pic of the ceramic tint? that sounds interesting? Thanks for the feedback so far guys. I have a really cool idea to go with my tint, but it will require a custom job from a highly skilled professional. I guess now I need to find out who or where that is here in Nashville? Any thoughts from you TN boys?

Check with Doug at Crawfords on good window tinters. Or check with G & S Auto Body, 2310 Cruzen St, Nashville, 37211 - (615) 251-0040

$150 + $20 extra for illegal (15%) tint on all sides.

ps. $330.00 is more than a little bit more. seems pretty outragous. I got a 1st class tint job also.

Everything is cheaper in FL. Here in the Ca. Bay Area its not that far out of line. I was offered the regular tint for $230.00. The ceramic cost $100.00 extra. Also on the install he removes all the interior so the tint material is behind all the plastic parts, even the 3rd stop light is removed. You can't see any edges anywhere. When looking at the door windows the tint is cut at a 45 degree angle on the edges so it looks like it's part of the glass. I don't think most shops go into this much detail but I might be wrong.

Mine was $180 for 3M tint with a lifetime guarantee.

The installer came to my work and did it in the parking lot.

He works for a Ford dealer and does it for them as options on new cars.

First class job!

I live in Sunnyvale (here in the Bay Area) and while I haven't gotten my Z tinted (I personally -don't like it) but some of my coworkers who have paid $120-$140 for their Z, Corvette, and M3...all are highly please and all 3 recommended their tint guy/shop.
I think you just paid alot and are trying to justify that you paid that much. I don't think paying more than twice as much is worth the level of 'detail' and I bet you 99% of others won't even notice the difference between your tint job and someone who paid less.

Mag,

The ceramic tint material alone cost as much as what you say you can get the entire job done for. I guess I just don't get it. Maybe I got screwed. Thats okay happends all the time. The shops name was Rocky Mountain Tint in Livermore, been in the buisness of tinting windows for over 20 years. Most of his work is for dealers, BMW's and high end cars. Not that it makes a difference. I'm glad that you all can get a really high quality job done for cheap but that never works for me. I'm still a firm believer of you get what you pay for. (most of the time) Anyway I wish you all the best with whoever you get to do your work because these cars a just to nice to have someone screw up. I drive a Ultra Yellow 35th so maybe at some meet one day you can check it out.

Regards Yon

I had my 350Z rear window tinted with 15% 3M Metal Film. Not the mirrored type just tinted. It has a lifetime guarantee against peeling or fading. I have had six or seven vehicles done with this stuff over the years. I had the 5% stuff on my Ford Probe GT for 11 years with not a single problem. I have the 5% metal film on my '98 Firebird and it looks as good as new. ;)

My 350Z had it installed the first week I owned it and looks great as well.
My cost was $100 and the installer removed the rear brake light and installed it underneath so you can't even see the rear brake light until it is lit. ;)

15%

5% front window upper visor tint

5%

5%- rear, 15% - side rear window, factory tint - front side windows

Hope this helps ......
