Low Pressure Gauge

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Ok...so two quick questions. I know I could probably read the owners manual and find this stuff out but I am in front of my PC at my office so it is easier to just ask ya'll.

1 - when is the low pressure gauge set to come on?

2 - when does it turn back off?

It went from high 50's-low 60's to 25 degrees in TN in about 24 hours. I let my car warm up this morning for about 5-10 minutes before I pulled out. When I started rolling the damn car started beepin at me. I realized it was the low pressure gauge. What is "too low" according to the car (I know it was because of the low pressure colder air), when will the indicator turn off again (b/c it has been on ever since, even at 30 psi), and should I put more air in my tires to counter the lower pressure (I always heard it was good to leave your tires a little more deflated in the winter)

What do you guys think.

The exact same thing happened to me this morning (I live in Utah). Scared the crap out of me. I went to the gas station and inflated my tires to about 35 psi each, but if they were to get hot I suspect they would be a little overinflated. I'm not sure if I did the right thing or not, but I feel a little better.

nolan.. from the manual:

"The tire pressure sensor will activate only when
the vehicle is driven at speeds above 20 MPH
(32 km/h). If the tire pressure signal cannot be
received correctly, the display shows (----).
The tire pressure indicator mode includes a low
tire pressure warning feature. If the vehicle is
being driven with very low tire pressure (lower
than 28 psi), the tire pressure indicator mode is
automatically selected and the PSI indicator will
blink in order to attract the driver’s attention."

"Tire pressure shown in the display may rise
or fall while driving depending on the driving
conditions (heat, etc.) and/or the outside
temperature. This does not indicate a
system malfunction."

"The low tire pressure warning system is
not a substitute for the regular tire pressure
check. Be sure to check the tire
pressure regularly and adjust it to the
COLD tire pressure shown in the tire
placard."

CantZmee,

Nissan has created a method of letting all of us know when winter is here. It first started with my pre-order in the fall/winter of 2002 and it has done it every year since. This year I fooled it by rasing the tire pressure to 40psi in October.

i love the "icy" indicator that comes on at about 35 degrees regardless of whether there's actually ice anywhere.

i also noticed the tire pressure warning light doesn't like to go off for a long long time even if the pressure is put above 28.

i keep mine a little below 40 all the time.
