A&Q about 350Z
Q:
bought my 06 in april, so this november i have to change tires. here's my dilemma (please no telling me to buy a beater- i will be driving my z this winter): i would like to take the easy way out and just get the pilots to use year round. i know i give up a little in each season, but the reality is in the summer i dont take curves doing 90, and in the winter anything over 2 inches or so of snow will keep me off of the roads. i live in philly, and can wait until the next day to drive on plowed roads. with blizzaks i will need to change the tires twice a year, and have storage issues for my potenzas to deal with. what are your thoughts? also, do i need new rims regardless of tire, or can my original rims suffice?
A:
I have an 03 touring model with 60kmiles. I am a snowboarder and use my z as my winter car. I have blizzaks which I have been using. I have not had any problems with winter driving and frequently travel to Vermont from Connecticut.
A:
sorry for hijacking, but i just want to point out that yet another person steps forward and proves the Z can be driven in the winter. all you people that bashed me on this topic a while back take notice.

How are the Pilots on rain ? Houston gets a lot of rain and I'm in need of some good traction. I currently have the Dunlop Sport 9000's which are great but then again did not drive in rain too much this year. What are the bet choices out there ? Has anyone heard of the Vredestein brand ?

I had Michelin Pilot Sports put on 2k miles ago. These tires are an improvement over the Potenzas in 1) traction control, 2) road noise and 3) ride. Though only experience with dry and rain, (no snow) I highly recommend.

i am on my second 350z now. my first, a 2004 enthusiast with 6 spd, i had swapped out on the day i took delivery the stock tires with 4 brand new pilot sports a/s. i was very impressed with them, in fact, unless the snow was higher than the bumper, i have never had a problem. i also drive frequently up to vermont and live in new york city. now on my second 350z, a 2006 touring with 6 spd, i don't plan to drive this baby at all in the winter, but that has nothing to do with the 350z, but because i bought a new passat 4motion in oct 2005. so i have the 4motion for winter, and the 350z for spring-summer-fall. no reason not to drive the 350z in the winter. just be careful with other drivers, these fools in nyc have no clue how to drive in the snow. :P
enjoy.
