New Tires - Some insight

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Got new front tires (Free from dealer) .... they have a different tread pattern and new alignment specs.

Has anyone noticed if their replacements are lasting longer with the "new" specs / pattern?

I honestly don't buy the hype of the new specs.

But someone please prove me wrong.

1z4u2c ,
The answer to your question is no on dismounting them and swaping sides. I have had the front aligned 4 times in the last 34K. This is the first car since a new 1972 Vega that I have to align the front this often. Even on that car I believe that I only had it aligned a couple of times in the 50K+ that I owned it.

I have an '04 Enthusiast. Had front tire feathering at 7500 miles. The dealer got me the replacement tires with the new tread design and alignment with new specs. Have 15000 + miles on the replacement tires and no problemos.
Note that the stock tires have a very low treadwear rating regardless of anything else. about 25000 miles is the most I think you can realistically get. Some people get a bit more or less depending on how aggressively they take the twisties.
